How can I correct the remark on my Non-B E-Visa issued in Laos?

E-Visa Remark Incorrect

I applied for my Non-B visa in Laos, had the E-visa approved and successfully entered Thailand on the E-Visa.

My school will now submit documents to the MOE, however they have noted the Remarks: section on the E-Visa says "Teacher at...."

This is incorrect as the visa applied for was for a staff visa, under Educational Personnel for Administrative Duties as per my visa application documents.

Whichever role, the visa is Non-B.

Is there a way to have the remark on the E-Visa paper corrected?
Summary so far
The user applied for a Non-B visa for staff under Educational Personnel but found an incorrect remark stating "Teacher" on their E-Visa. They seek guidance on how to correct this remark. The thread features various comments discussing broader immigration issues and the functionality of automated entry systems in Thailand, but does not provide a direct solution to the user's question.

How it will work with DTV if they always scan QR code from me. Only passport checking will treat me like a tourist for 30 days only

No stamp on electronic entry/exit. There eventually may be some way to verify via THIM or some app like other countries have for the purpose of tracking in/out border data which invariably is needed for other visa applications or Gov services.

I’m here on a retirement visa and I believe that my immigration office is going to be looking for a stamp. Agreed, the THIN QR code should be the same thing . But my experience after 4 years of living here Is that immigration, transportation office from province to province don’t communicate very well.

Fingers crossed. lol

This is good and not good. It will be often algorithms deciding whether you are allowed or not based on your history. Especially if you had history of staying longer and you are on edge of being denied. Talk with officer could end positive, algos will be ruthless.

Most of us figured they would bring this with the new ETA system. It seems they have shelved ETA, and it might not ever happen. I think it will happen eventually as it's the only realistic way for them to start collecting the tourist tax they've been talking about for YEARS.

The system we think will eventually arrive will that you submit the ETA if you are arriving without a visa, and then you'll know long before you travel to Thailand whether you'll be granted entry or not. Submit ETA, pay the tourist tax, and then get approval or denial. If you get approved, you go straight to the auto gate when you arrive since they've already recorded all of your information and your approval for entry. It's what makes the most sense. Rarely does that aspect matter for Thai policy though.

I'd imagine, if anything it would tell you to visit a officer, the gate wont be the one doing the denying.

The system they are implementing is an Asean wide project. Cambodia has already implemented it and it works perfectly. Each country has a pre entry registration that takes all details including visa number and your days are allocated as per your visa or visa exemption. My recent trip to Siem Reap i was through in less than 60 seconds. Looking forward to it going live here

well, if it is just for visa-exempt entries, that makes a lot of sense. As the admitted stay is always the same number of days, the automated gate cannot make a mistake

It’ll be interesting to see how you’d know if you’ve been given the right amount of days.

If you’re in the same queue as people entitled to different lengths of stay, how will you check.
Biff *******

I think you’ve misunderstood my question (twice).

It wasn’t ‘how will it work.’

It was;

How will we know what length of stay we’ve been given?

The fact that donkey-dirt-track Scambodia have done it isn’t a great recommendation to be honest.

all permission to stay have rules of how long you can stay
Mark *********
Mark *********
I think that’s pretty obvious. When you extend, you know exactly when your permission to stay expires. A DTV gives you 180 days, visa-exempt entry gives you a set period. It’s all recorded digitally — it might even show on a display at the gate or in an online portal. How do you know how long you’ve been in the EU without a stamp? Same principle.

Loyalty Lobby literally just posted an article about how people are frustrated by these, because immigration officers will not let those who are eligible get in line and very often send them to the regular passport control lines. I don't foresee this being much benefit to anyone.

It also won't benefit a single person with DTV, because these gates are ONLY for people entering visa exempt, ONLY for people who have entered Thailand withing the last year, and ONLY for people who are on the same passport they used for their last entry (if within a year).
Mark *********

What actually happens is never what the government claims. Nothing ever works the way they say. Even the current system doesn't work the way they say, since they don't let eligible people use it most of the time.

I don't expect anyone to be able to use these gates outside of how they currently work. Only visa exempt, only if they have your biometrics already on the same passport as before, and only if you've entered Thailand within a year.

you can enter your visa number there is a field. Therefore the system would pick it up and apply it. It's simple. For some reason you can't get the simplicity
Nongnuch ********
Nongnuch ********

you pre-registered online, that's why your date were in the Cambodia system. For Thailand, the TDAC doesn't require a visa number - it is not mandatory. The automated gate would have to rely solely on your passport scan

and the mention of 900,000 longterm visa holders is totally weird. There are only an estimated 240,000 western foreign expats living in Thailand longterm. Where are the other 660,000 foreigners hiding ?

then explain why I still must use the fingerprint system at the manned gates, despite all my data already being listed in the system as a longterm stay permit holder ? Will the automated gates demand a fingerprint as well on top of the passport detail page scan?

@Nongnuch *******
I dont undertsand how this is difficult to calculate, am i missing something?
Mark *********
Mark *********
@Nongnuch *******
How would a re-entry permit be difficult to work out? You just come back in, your passport is scanned, and the system knows how much permission to stay you already have. There’s no magic calculation—if anything, it’s simpler.
Nongnuch ********
Nongnuch ********
@Ray ****
you entered Cambodia visa-exempt. This gives everybody the same number of admitted stay days. Same entering Thailand visa-exempt - always the same amount of days. But do you really think the system will find your extension of stay expiry date and your re-entry permit ?
Ray *****
Ray *****
@Nongnuch *******
why couldn't a computer work out length of stay based on a visa number? I just visited Siem Reap and that's exactly how it works. Your pre registration works out exactly how many days you have
Nongnuch ********
Nongnuch ********
@Mark ********
will the system find the re-entry permit, as there must be one for all longstay permit holders? I am not talking about the system detecting "the visa". The system must detect the current STAY PERMIT of a holder of an Extension of Stay. Systems like these from Thai government seldom have worked satisfactorily in the long run. Well I trust that THE NATION and that "spokesperson from government" really meant that over 900,000 persons holding a longterm stay permit are elegible. Because according to statistics, there are only around 240.000 western foreigners living in Thailand longterm.
Mark *********
Mark *********
@Nongnuch *******
Passport scanned → system finds valid visa → sees visa category → applies that category’s permitted stay → records the admitted-until date. Why would this be difficult?
Nongnuch ********
Nongnuch ********
@Brandon ***********
oh, I see. The Immigration officer still has to calculate the duration of the next stay permit, for Longterm Visa holders and for holders of Extensions of Stay. That makes sense. An automated system cannot do such calculations.
Mark *********
Mark *********
@Brandon ***********
If you READ the article, you’ll see that it’s expanding to 31 nationalities and opening up to 6.5 million short-term visitors and around 900,000 long-term visa holders. You keep talking about the current system, which is irrelevant here, and assuming what will happen based on your best guess.

Why would I talk about exit gates? I know what I'm talking about. The CURRENT automated entry gates are ONLY for people with a Singapore and Hong Kong passport, and ONLY if they are entering visa exempt. That's how it works NOW for ENTRY. They're not going to completely change the system and allow long-term visas. Those have to be reviewed by an immigration officer, the stamp duration calculated, and applied by an officer. That will absolutely NOT be changing.
