Hi everyone, I have a question about entering Thailand with a DTV visa.

Last month, I applied for a DTV visa in my home country. However, I traveled to Thailand before the visa result was issued. While I was already in Thailand, my DTV visa was approved.

Now I’m planning to leave Thailand and re-enter using my DTV visa. Will there be any issue with immigration when I come back?

Also, can I travel to any country and then return to Thailand to activate the DTV visa, or would it be better to travel back to my home country first since that’s where I applied for the visa?

Has anyone had a similar experience?

Thank you!

Overall, opinions suggest caution and highlight the importance of having the necessary documentation when re-entering.

My understanding is the immigration officer when you arrive can deny you entry but it would be very rare for the DTV to be cancelled as it appears that, that IO does not have that power. It appears if they think you do not have money or are working illegally or are engaging in criminal activity then they try to find a reason to deny entry. So be polite, dress well, have at least about 20,000 baht equivalent in cash on you and show you have at least the 500,000 baht equivalent in bank accounts and can show you meet the foreign income or soft power requirement.

You were supposed to stay in the country you applied during the entire application process and definitely not travel to Thailand. Hopefully the Immigration Officer will notice this and cancel your visa. This is a simple rule and if you are not able to follow it you should not get the visa and you deserve to have it cancelled

My understanding is that one may not enter or be in Thailand while the DTV application is being processed. Ignoring this may cause a rejection once it is discovered.

You should be able to travel to any country and when you come back in you’ll get the DTV stamp.
