I'm here on visa exempt (+extension), But have an old non-o extension (spouse of a teacher) that I did not cancel. It expired in
June.
As advised by one immigration worker, I tried to get it canceled in Chiang Mai with a letter from my spouse's work (he still works there by the way) but they did not cancel it.
a different worker asked for more details on the letter and said no need to come back, just bring it when I need an extension (a week prior I was told bring it anytime).
Now I’m in Bangkok and about to leave the country, planning to get a new non-o at the embassy back home in a few months.
I have the new detailed letter. Do you think I should go get it canceled now? If so, what should I bring and where do I go? Is it on the spot? (I don’t have much time before my flight)
Thank you so much

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking advice on whether to cancel an expired Non-O visa extension obtained in Chiang Mai while currently in Bangkok. They received mixed information from immigration workers and plan to apply for a new Non-O visa at the embassy back home. One response clarifies that visa extensions can only be canceled at the office where they were issued, indicating the user cannot cancel the extension while in Bangkok.

You can only cancel an extension at the office you received it at. So if you're in Bangkok but got your extension in ChiangMai, then it doesn't matter since you can't do it now.
that extension was given in bangkok actually (it was like a year ago), so It would be the proper office. would you recommend I go now while I'm here as a tourist?
it's the best thing to do if you want to prevent any issues in the future. They might just tell you that you're fine and to not sorry, or they might officially cancel it. You won't know until you go
ok thank you! I will go and ask there then. Thank you I appreciate you help. and it won't effect my husband's extension or my current tourist exempt entry right? (he's still working at the same place)
