I used to be a volunteer for a foundation in Chonburi province (actual volunteer with documents and work permit). My wife was on a follower non-O visa. I cancelled my visa and work permit before leaving at sri racha immigration and we were advised to just have my wife leave through the airport to cancel hers. We both flew out to Indonesia and are back now on tourist exemptions. We went extend in Chiang mai and were told they could not extend hers because she did not cancel her old non-o at the same time in the same immigration office. Though they said the computer showed that both our old non-o visa are cancelled. They said we would have to fly to chonburi and get them to “officially” cancel hers with the stamps. Sri racha officials say they don’t know what Chiang mai immigration is wanting. Any advice? We are both American.
TLDR : Answer Summary
The poster has experienced issues with their wife's Non-O visa cancellation after following immigration advice. They were told by Chiang Mai immigration that her visa couldn't be extended because it wasn't officially cancelled at the same time she left the country. Despite Sri Racha immigration indicating that both visas were cancelled, there seems to be a miscommunication, necessitating a trip back to Chonburi for official cancellation stamps.
