I'm confused about whether or not I should have cancelled my Visa extension. I've previously had two education visas through a language school (Language Express), 9 months + 6 months for a total of 15 months. I left the country about 4 weeks ago, my extension of stay expired while I was away and about two weeks ago I came back on a 30-day exemption.
My school didn't tell me anything about needing to cancel the extension, and I didn't cancel between my first and second visa. Only after reading online and asking the staff at my school they've told me that I need to cancel and they've told me that they will prepare paperwork for me. I was told though, "don't worry, it's fine. Can cancel later."
What process do I need to go through now, and what sort of trouble if any might I find myself in?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is confused about whether they need to cancel their visa extension after returning to Thailand on a 30-day exemption. They previously held education visas and left the country while their extension expired. Despite school staff initially stating that cancellation was not necessary, feedback from others reveals that failing to cancel an extension may lead to issues when applying for future visas, including potential fines.
And it is time to close it down. Nobody is given the correct advice according the OP. Why nobody is giving correct advice, simple you ask on the wrong place. This is FACEBOOK and not the Immigration Office. You did not follow the rules strictly as you promised and that may lead to a fine, this decision is made by an Immigration Officer not by foreigners trying to explain the rules. Go to the correct place and simply ask.
This is what you all singed at Immigration, ackowledgement of the rules and conditions of the Extension of Stay. Yes I understand, why would you read a piece of official document at a Government Office, while there is Facebook. Please take some time to read it, at least it saves me time to explain over and over again what you did sign
and another friend left the school, went back to the phillipines to have her baby, came back 6 months later then came back (to the same school, and got a fine because her previous visa/extension wasn't cancelled
Not sure where this day dream comes from, but it is total nonsense. a Visa can not be cancelled, even after or before the expiry date. It may sound very strange, but just take a look inside your own passport. The Single Entry Visa is stamped USED when you entered Thailand and this made the visa invalid on that moment.
only real problems i did read was with Extensions of Stay based on working which were not cancelled. Immigration can give you a hassle even fine you for the time between the last day of the not cancelled Extension of Stay till the day you show up for a new Extension of Stay.
It's the appropriate time to be worried. If I did everything correctly I would have no cause to be worried? In any case nobody has yet provided a definite answer to my question so if you are able to then feel free?
