Hello everyone, I have just submitted my paperwork for an ED visa through University. However, I am looking to change to a DTV soft power Muay Thai visa. Has anyone else had any experience with cancelling the ED visa, especially if its still being processed, and if it had any negative affects on applying for the DTV. Thanks!!
Summary so far
The user has submitted paperwork for an ED visa through a University and is now looking to switch to a DTV soft power Muay Thai visa. They are seeking advice on the cancellation process for the ED visa, especially regarding any implications if it is still being processed, and whether this might affect their DTV application.

My bank has free wire but still cheaper using Wise. My bank pads the exchange rate.

Each bank has their own rates and all take a margin from the actual exchange rate. You need to check with the particular bank you want to use, or do as many do and use a money transfer service such as Wise

No u will get creamed using their rate, even though its probably less than if US bank does the exchange. Wise is brilliant, the rate is current up2date, and if its volatile you can lock in a rate for 24hrs, then if it worsens take that rate if it improves cancel and hold in the new rate. On large sums u really can make a few hundred dollars if there's vast fluctuations going on

Each bank has their own rates on the day and i think you have up to 30 days to convert and each bank has their own fee

Banks use spot rate and a foreign currency transaction fee. Spot rate is good for around 10seconds when trading

I use this app it’s called Remitly! gives you a better rate if you send over a more than $3,000! I use often.

Its based on the daily rate the bank used + service charges.

It's been my experience thatThai banks will give a better exchange rate than US banks. But then if you don't let the US bank screw you on the exchange rate, they charge you a higher fee on the transfer. Regardless, it's best to do it this way.

Best option is to open a WISE account and do the transfer and exchange through them.

Every bank will have their own exchange rate and fees

They have to make money off the transfer so it’s not pegged to the current rate

Usually it’s ฿1.5-฿3 baht below the rate you see on XE etc

But

Your bank might have a better exchange rate than the Thai bank exchange rate

So check both

And remember the rate changes minute by minute except for sat/sun

Good luck
