Can my family and I apply for the Thai DTV visa together or do we need to apply separately?

So my family and I did things a bit 🤏🏽 backwards but hear me out. We came to Thailand, got an apartment and settled in, now we are about to head to Vietnam to apply for the DTV. We are going for the Muay Thai/soft power DTV, and we have all the requirements checked off, however, I’d like to clarify the applying process. So my spouse is going to apply first and then myself and our son will apply after they get their DTV confirmation, correct? To clarify we can’t all apply at the same time, right?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The application process for the DTV visa in Thailand requires that family members apply individually, with the primary applicant (usually the spouse) applying first. Dependants can only submit their applications after the primary applicant's DTV is approved, as one of the requirements includes submitting the issued DTV for the primary applicant.

Where in Vietnam are you applying for the DTV? And once finished can you provide an insight on how long it took?

We are planning to go through the same route, we have also settled in first.

Correct, you need the main DTV holder to get approved first.

Heads up, while it doesn't say it explicitly, you are supposed to have the 500,000B available "per person". Lots of people have gotten by using the same 500k savings per applicant, but we decided to go another route because yanking more money out of my investments to "cover" 5 people just didn't sit right with us.

If you plan on using the visa extension, you have to prove funds again also. So better off doing a boarder run and getting a stamp in most cases. We just had a baby here in Jan and that's too much of a hoop for us atm lol.

good luck! It's been well worth it for us. Amazing place to raise a family and explore the culture.

You cannot apply all together because one of the requirements for a dependant DTV is uploading the issued DTV of the primary person. Until you have that you cannot apply for the dependant ones.

we are in identical situation. Currently in Vietnam now and applied for DTV on Saturday (my partner and I not married, so both applied individually) got an email this afternoon for more documentation.

1. They requested a “photo” (not a scan) of the student confirmation letter and payment invoice, both with wet signature and company stamp.

2. Explanation of how we will sustain our life in Thailand and as we are currently unemployed (quit our jobs and aiming to live off savings while in Thailand for a year)

Will keep you updated on progress, as we also need to apply for our 2 kids once we get approved 🤞🏼😂

ok good to know! I’ll make sure to upload all of that when I submit the application. Thank you! Keep me posted on how long it takes you guys from start to finish so we can maybe guestimate how long it will take.

You have to all apply individually. Generally one person applies for whatever reason then their spouse and kids apply after they are approved. Spouse must actually be married not just a partner
