Hello everyone, I have just submitted my paperwork for an ED visa through University. However, I am looking to change to a DTV soft power Muay Thai visa. Has anyone else had any experience with cancelling the ED visa, especially if its still being processed, and if it had any negative affects on applying for the DTV. Thanks!!
Summary so far
The user is seeking advice on canceling their Education (ED) visa application, which they have already submitted, to switch to a Digital Nomad (DTV) visa related to Muay Thai. They are particularly curious about the process of cancellation and any potential negative consequences on their future DTV visa application if the ED visa is still under processing.

Just get reservation without paying. Print out confirmation and then cancel.

I once booked a ferry ride from Trang to Langkawi. Unfortunately that route is currently not available. However it was cheap and easy not to use.. Similar options eg from Phuket are available.

It did cause a bit of head scratching but it was, and still is, a genuine onward travel booking.

Refundable airlines tickets are the most expensive when dealing with the airlines directly.

What the airlines do, they know that maybe 10 seats or whatever number or % of seats are never sold, That goes to Expedia and similar portals.

Often, you can not book those tickets (not available) as the congretarors had used their quota of 2-3-5 seats on the flight, Their own refund policy cost them nothing, that is the nature of the seats sold through them. An airline knows there is no money to be made on unsold seats (at whatever discount) and that goes to cheap flights portals. Whatever Expedia might sell is a bonus to the airlines.

A fellow passenger, on Thai Airways flight Tokyo - Bangkok, told me he had paid half of the price i did but could not get his girlfriend on the same flight. No tickets available, as if the flight was full.

The flight was half empty but no seats available to Expedia bookings.

At the end of day, it is airlines who operate the flights, not Expedia.

Nearly all the sites and airlines give refundable tickets, you just have to pay more as long as you book at least 7 days before and cancel within their time limits

Probably cheaper to buy 2 tickets for different days and just use the one you need

Or work out costs for fully or part refund

Expedia has free cancelation policy. Check different tier of airplane tickets and find the one has refundable options

i have never heard of a fully refundable ticket.

during my research i found out that there is a 24 hrs refund policy if u buy your ticket in the us (or something similar) but even here people complained having issues getting back the full amount

Marcels Fbseite I have bought a fully refundable R/T ticket directly from an airline in the US. Upon arrival in my hotel I canceled my return flight. By the time I woke up from a nap my credit card already reflected the refund. Fact.

Marcels Fbseite Pretty much all airlines offer fully refundable tickets that you can cancel for a full refund whenever you want. You pay one hell of a premium, mind, but they're available.

Marcels Fbseite many airlines have fully refundable airfare classes, for example Emirates Flex Plus ticket class is fully refundable with no fees.

Marcels Fbseite yes, as long as you buy the correct Flex Plus ticket class and it says fully refundable. I've done it several times. Note that this ticket class isn't offered on all flights. It is offered on the HKG/BKK route, for example.
