TLDR : Answer Summary
The upcoming DTV interview could cover a variety of topics, including verification of your presence in the Netherlands, reasons for choosing the DTV over a tourist visa, and proof of financial stability, such as logging into your bank account. Expect questions about your Muay Thai training, including the name and location of your gym or school, and details about your intended stay in Thailand to match your application. Some commenters mentioned that your Thai language skills may be assessed as a part of the interview process, especially if you previously held an ED visa, as this has been a point of scrutiny for visa applications. It's advised to prepare answers regarding your training and financial status, and to remain calm during the interview.
yes he does π Im just curious about what people think and to be honest really nervous.

Anonieme deelnemer 238 You think they also expect that im fluent in Thai after the beginner course, or would they have more realistic expectations? π
Okay all these answers should be okay. Im practicing my Thai again if they would start a conversation in Thai. I hope they understand it was just a beginner course. The immigration officer at the airport actually said i should speak thai by now... In just six months. π Show them the money is also no problem. But i do hope they will give me the DTV and not the 6 months one.
well, u said u got a ED visa, they probably gonna test your thai and figure out whether you can speak thai or not. ED visa has been very abused from those who wanted to live in thailand long term and they might suspect you're applying for the DTV for that reason. If you can speak thai fluently then you won't have any issues. If you used ED visa (how many years have u studied thai?) and you can't use thai for a regular conversation then they might deny you
they wont care if he speaks thai or not. no one expects you to speak thai fluently after a 6 months class. lol⦠did you learn the language? even after 2 years of learning it i can tell you that its very far from fluent. probably not a single question about his previous ED beeing asked. totally unrelated.
and with the DTV you can technically live here longterm.
Then you were lucky. At bangkok airport they just spoke thai to me really fast and when i did not understand they where surprised and they said i should speak thai by now π
oh dude, you are so wrong. There are dozens of folks who have already claimed they got interviewed in Thai to figure out if someone has really attended the classes or not. Of course they won't expect you to speak fluently after a 6 months course but if you have been on the ED visa for for over a year and you can just say Teerak and sawasdee krab then they will surely realize that you got the ed visa just to live there long term. The embassies have gotten much more strict lately, while you could get DTV with a single appointment, now they go into details. If they figure out you tend to abuse the system, they'll deny you
6 month is more than enough to learn the basic, if you have attended the classes and done your stuff then you won't have issues. If you can't speak thai at all then it's gonna be a big red flag, ED visa has been to most abused visa during the past years, used for those who wanted to live (and work illegally) in thailand. If you can't speak thai then they have the clue to think that you just wanna stay there long time moving from ed to muay thai isn't going to help.
I actually learnt more than that in 6 months, I could read some simple words and make a very simple conversation. 6 months of learning guarantee anything in between 1000 and 2000 words. The officers will probably check that you have actually attended those classes and they you've learnt something during these 6 months
Well, you don't have to explain that to me but to the supervisor. All those thai visa pages are full of users who claimed to be interviewed in thai, some mentioned that they got questioned at the immigration at the airport as well. There was a huge crackdown on ED visas which has become a major red flag. If you can speak and read the basic then you don't have to worry, if you used the ED visa to live in thailand long term then that could lead u to troubles

Michael Bramieri: Yes, but I'm not good at it. And the immigration at the airport somehow thinks that you should be fluent, and because of this experience, I'm really nervous about it. Even now, let's say I get the DTV and then go back to Bangkok. Maybe Yes but im not good at it. And the immigration at the airport somehow think that you should be fluent and because of this experience imr really nervous about it. Even now let's say i get the dtv and then going back to bangkok maybe the same will happen because they see the ED Visa.
I'm really nervous about these things, unfortunately π Now i actually regret this ED visa

Do you really have to go to den haag for the interview?
sorry but I really don't understand why you say STUPID. You made a definitive claim that " they will test your language skills ". They could, but there's NO such requirement for them to do so.
yes but it was just beginner course ofcourse. The plan eventually is to invest in Thailand. But I would like to experience Thailand a bit more before I do this. So in October I started the Thai language course till April and now i applied for the dtv. You think I should tell them this? I have the money to them that I can invest.
It sounds like you were really studying some thai, so why worry about that? Just say that you want to experience Thailand as much as possible as you have a lot of savings and you don't have to work in the near future.
do not mention investing at all.DTV is a tourist visa.I.Guess they will test your Thai language ability for sure to make sure that you were attending school.Everyone is abusing the visa and that is why they getting strict. Understand?
I donβt know. I already uploaded the course of 6 months which I paid for. So donβt think can change it now. I was already a bit worried about that but this gym is the only one the island that does the Muay Thai.
You should be fine. Many others had had Ed Visa and moved on to DTV. It seems to be the most common movement from one visa to another. Good luck. Hope it all turns out fine as I am sure it will.
First, it is a way to confirm you are in the Netherlands and second they want to understand why you need the DTV vs. 6 month tourist visa. They might want you to log into your account and show the money. No need to get stressed. Be honest and all will go well
