Hi, about 2 weeks ago I went to live as a guest of my thai gf who has an apartment for rent in her name. I already have a TM30 of the previous room whose contract in my name it expired a few days ago, and I forgot to ask for new TM30. If I request a new TM 30 in my girlfriend's room how could immigration know the exact date I moved? It can be an issue if I declare I moved the same day? to avoid fine for late? or are they asking some kind of proofs about the real date? thanks

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about filing a new TM30 after moving in with their girlfriend in Thailand, specifically regarding what date to declare and potential implications of declaring the wrong date. Community responses suggest that immigration does not require proof of the exact moving date and that it's safe to declare a recent date, as there is no thorough verification process.

My landlord never files the TM30 immediately when I arrive from the UK. Usually about a week later but this year one month later!

Immigration don't go round checking CCTV to check which day you moved in

Of course they dont but they do know when you checked in and checked out of your previously filed TM30, which means they might want to know where you were if there's a discrepancy in the date the next TM30 is filed

@Steve ******
you don't 'check out' of a TM30, you simply file or have filed a new one.....

they might, but they don't in practice...

I bet they do just for the fine šŸ˜‚

They donā€™t ask for proof of when you actually moved. Put down yesterday (whenever you apply).

On the actual TM30 form thereā€™s a date for when you apply but actually no date option for when you ā€œmoved inā€. Canā€™t recall online options but I doubt anyone would ever question you. If they were to say you were visiting a friend in Bangkok and re-filed on your return yesterdayā€¦..

Thereā€™s the ā€œDate of Arrivalā€ but thereā€™s no date when the ā€œalienā€ moves in to stay somewhere.

Many thanks, especially for remembering that we are "aliens", from a planet of another world, reminds me so much of the movie toošŸ¤£

we smile, but I suppose that they know that "alien" is offensive for us. This from dictionary:

Historically, the word alien has been used in a way that is now often considered disparaging and offensive: to refer to a person who was born in one country and now lives in another country without having become a citizen.

Alien and its more general synonym foreigner are now often considered disparaging and offensive due to being used in a way thatā€™s intended to otherize a personā€”mark them as different and unwelcome. Such use is typically attributed to xenophobia, racism, and anti-immigrant stances.

This sense of alien is found in legal terms like ā€‹ā€‹resident alien and illegal alien. General and legal use of these terms has decreased in recent years, but they are still in use in many cases.The word alien is also commonly used as a noun to refer to a being from another planet, sometimes called an extraterrestrial or a space alien.

@Pa***
, thanks for the info. Sometimes we feel offensive about some words. Sometimes we donā€™t. I still feel hilarious to be called alien (kon tang dawo). They seem donā€™t like me to change my citizenship to a Thai. Submitted the documents years ago at the provincial police office and they didnā€™t take/receive/keep my application which meant a no. But Iā€™m still ok. I can still live here if I want šŸ‘

They don't, just file a TM30
