Good evening everyone, just a question... I’m just about to fill out my 60 day tourist visa and I haven’t yet booked an ongoing flight as I wish to extend for 30 days, but one of the requirements for Thailand is a statement outlining my travel plans & giving reasons for a one way ticket or travel exceeding visa period... what if I don’t have a legitimate reason... I’m stumped on this... what are some examples expats use for this... lol you can tell I’m new at this and really need some direction..... thanks again 😊

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post discusses the requirement for a travel plans statement when applying for a 60 day tourist visa to Thailand without a booked ongoing flight. The user expresses concern over not having a legitimate reason for a one way ticket and seeks examples of how other expats have handled this. Comments provide guidance, noting that applicants should mention plans for a 30 day extension and understand the visa conditions.

On the application for the Thai consulate in Perth they have this on there;

They have this on their application;

If there is a one way ticket or travel exceeds visa period, A STATEMENT from traveler outlining travel plans in Thailand is required. Statement must give reason for one way ticket or travel exceeding visa period, proving and confirming the applicant understands the conditions of the visa

Make sure you say you're getting a 30 day extension if you show onward travel later than 60 days.

Good. I'll stick to that mo, though :)

@Tho***
, they could but, I couldn't find a single report that could be verified where they have asked when someone holds a tourist visa enters the country.

But immigration could ask to see proff of onward travel within 60 day, right?

Unless you're applying for a single entry tourist visa at a consulate that doesn't require onward travel you're gonna hafta get something. most consulates know that you can get a 30 day extension so onward travel in 90 days from the date you apply is fine.

Kerri Anne Bennington Kerri. I had the Hong Kong consulate ask me why I wanted a tourist Visa (lol). I said, because I am on vacation and meeting up with friends in Phuket. They sometimes want to make sure you are not working or going to extend your stay because of work. I feel that was more of the concern with me.

usually they don't care what the reason is, just write tourism. They certainly don't want a page long dissertation on why you wanna come here ;)

@Ke***

Thanks for that Tod I thought that’d be the case.. so will just book a ticket to KL before 90 days. cause I’m coming from Australia they still require a statement though? And I don’t have a legitimate reason except I love Thailand and want to stay longer but I’m guessing I can’t write that 😂
