Get an agent, 5,400 THB. 15 minutes from zero to walking out with your Thai DL.
Lucas Saliba no I didn’t try yet as someone said they give you 2-3 months in future, do can’t wait that long as residence certificate works for only 1 month.
Most office have dropin in morning. Banglamung start 0800 but you need be there maybe 30 min before or more as there are only so many every day.and you need a 100 % paperwork or they just schedule you to an appointment
I found it impossible to make an appointment on the ap. The 3 ‘nearby’ offices were all booked out for as long as bookings were open (about 8 weeks ahead). I did make an arrangement through an agent - it was about 3 weeks ahead and cost about 5,000 or 6,000 baht for both car and motorbike licenses. I got my own medical certificates as they are really easy.
You might need to book on the DLT queue app. My partner rang in advance and they only told her I needed the elearning QR codes. When I went as a walk in they said Farang need to use the app and make an appointment. That might be more than 30 days in the future so get appointment first then get certificate of residence and medical cert as they are only valid for 30 days.
Depending where you are, make an appointment with the DLT first. Resident Certificate and Medical certificate must be < 30 days old. If you get them first and cannot get an appointment for six weeks you have to get them all over again. Please don't ask how I know this 🤣
For a residence certificate you need your passport, a copy of the TM30 receipt from your landlord, a completed application form and possibly a passport sized photo.
For a driving licence you need your passport, medical certificate from a local clinic, your residence certificate. If its your first time and you want to avoid the actual test you'll need a home country driving licence and matching IDP but you'll still need to watch a video and answer a handful of simple questions
I have been getting a few of these lately. Confirm need all of what you mention including the photo. They stick the photo to the certificate and stamp it. Costs vary by office. Rayong where I go seems the most expensive at ฿500 same day service or if you want them free you can collect in 3 days but you can only get 1 certificate for free after 3 day wait. If OP wants to do motorbike and car license it will require 2 certificates.
GreyElephant🐘 it varies by office as is normal, I got 2 residence certificates a few months ago which were quite different to any I've had before, no photo just text on the certificates issued free of charge in minutes and both accepted for my licence renewals
