Retirement visa questions for a friend not on facebook:

1. Does the decree automatically extending visas to July 31 cover 1 year retirement visas expiring?

2. If they want to go in anyway to extend their retirement visa expiring May 7 for reasons related to bank account requirements, can they go in?

3. I was told there are holidays on 1st, 4th and 6th, which would make immigration more crowded on the other days, but also there some rumor that the holidays have been postponed. Any info?

Thanks, I appreciate how useful and well managed this site is!

TLDR : Answer Summary
The post includes questions regarding the visa amnesty's impact on expiring retirement visas, procedures for extending a retirement visa in Thailand, and holiday impacts on immigration services. Responses clarify that the amnesty does not cover retirement extensions, emphasize the need to act before the visa expiration date of May 7, and confirm that public holidays remain unchanged.

1... NO...the amnesty does NOT cover those on retirement extensions.

2. Go to immigration and get the one year extension of stay by May 7.

3. Holidays have NOT been cancelled.

They must go to Immigration by May 7 and complete their extension.

Good Luck

Sorry but removed the complete sections with comments,

You can not walk into immigration and cancel your Extension of Stay based on being over 50 years of age.

Sorry, even in lock downs and periods of no alcohol people only getting older not younger

They can visit between 30 days before and the last day mentioned in the stamp in the passport, so time enough to plan around the few days of National Holiday. If you plans to stay inside Thailand he need to apply for a new 1 year Extension of Stay.

The Amnesty is for people who could not leave the country on time.
