I gave an answer to someone and now I am doubting what I said. It is a little confusing. Not sure if the extension on marriage rule applies or not. Enter Thailand on a NonO. Extended by 60 days. 60 days extension ends at the end May so will be on will be on amnesty until 31st July. Wants to extend by one year. Is the apply before date the end of May or 31st July? Thanks.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is uncertain about the rules regarding extending their Non-O visa in Thailand, especially concerning the application timeline given their current amnesty status, which lasts until July 31st. They seek clarification on whether they should apply for the extension before the end of May or before the amnesty expires in July. Comments suggest consulting the immigration office for definitive guidance since there are varying interpretations about the rules.

Unfortunately
@Cha****
you're asking a question only your immigration office can answer :( Some are telling people to take the amnesty and then BEFORE the 31st of July come apply for a yearly extension BUT some are telling people IF you take the amnesty you will have to exit and re-enter the country when the program ends (meaning you start all over from scratch) before you can either get a new in country visa or a yearly extension.

You need to go talk to your immigration office BEFORE you run on the amnesty to see what they say your options are.

Thanks. So amnesty to 31st July means exactly that. 31st July "Bye bye". Thanks again.

Yes, OK. I understand.

No, it does not mean that. It means no later then July 31. We also don't know what would happen when July 31 comes around either.

No. That is why I am asking. If 31st July I still have time. If end of May then must go out and get a new Non O.

It appears Thai immigration is not letting people use the amnesty to convert the amnesty to an extension of stay. My advice is to go on the automatic amnesty starting on the end of May, and bring your money over. When the borders reopen, go to Laos and get another Non-O based on marriage. When you get the Non-O visa, go and get the extension of stay based on marriage.
