Hi Veterans. I'm asking for a friend. Does the Thai immigration view a Non-b business and Non-b work as two different type of permits?

I have a friend that was on non-b visa for his business and later went on amnesty and wanted to get a non-b for a teaching job. Immigration didn't allow him. Are there other options for him to get a valid visa?

TLDR : Answer Summary
The Thai immigration authorities treat Non-B business and Non-B work permits as distinct types of permits. A user shared that their friend, originally on a Non-B for business, was unsuccessful in switching to a Non-B for teaching after entering amnesty. It was noted that applications for a Non-B visa from within the country are generally limited to specific entry visa types, and applying while on amnesty can complicate matters.

Oh ok. Thanks Tod. I heard there was some teachers on amnesty that got a non-b extension. Is it verified or just hearsay?

Richard Barrow posted that the school he works at in Samut Prakan had his teachers (who were on amnesty) go apply for 90 day Non-B visas based on employment.

They had no valid stamps, were on amnesty from Non-B visas, tourist visas, visa exempt entries and were accepted for applying for a Non-B visa in country and currently have "under consideration" stamps and will go back to see if their visa application was approved or not.

The only person not accepted was someone who had been on an ED visa/extension. They could not apply

It was the Samut Prakan immigration office so you should contact your office and see. There has been NO directive put out about it though so it's office by office what ever they wanna do

Had nothing to do with the "type" of Non-B and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that you can only apply for an in country Non-immigrant visa from a 30 day visa exempt or a 60 day tourist visa entry or a 30 day extension from one of those AND you can't apply for a Non-B while on amnesty (at least at this time they are not allowing it freely)
