Can a Non-B Visa Be Transferred to a New Employer in Thailand?

Asking for a friend:

He's on a Non-B working for a well-known investment company in Thailand but was offered a new job at a Thai university (non-teaching).

The university told him that he'd have to do his Non-B all over again because the Non-B aren't the same. Is that true? Can't he just transfer the Non-B to his new employer?

Thanks for helping out. :)

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquired about the process of changing jobs in Thailand while on a Non-B visa, specifically whether it was possible to transfer the visa to a new employer at a university. Responses suggested that while it is technically possible to change jobs without leaving Thailand, it usually involves significant coordination between the current and new employers. If the visa allows work for another employer and is not tied to the original employer, a new work permit may be necessary. Consulting with the Ministry of Labor and seeking guidance from the BOI (Board of Investment) is advisable.

If the page of Work permit is not full no need just need the university to give documents and put the new name I had such an experienced before when I left my old school

First question is, is the person using the Non Immigrant B visa and doing border runs every 90 days (top picture as example)

OR

did he get this nice stamp from Immigration and is he inside Thailand making 90 days reports at Immigration (bottom picture as example)

If the person is using a 90 day stay he got with on entry with this visa and there is no name of is former employer on this visa, he can use he visa and start working for another company.

But he also have to deal with the Ministry of Labor for his Work Permit and if he really works for a big investment company I guess his visa and work permit are arranged at the one stop service center of BOI. If correct there is the first place to ask information.

Technically no, it is possible to remain in Thailand whilst changing jobs, but this is requires lots of coordination between both companies to work together. Everyone I know in this situation has gone abroad and applied for a new visa.

There's 2 person that did it straight away at the immigration. I think that might be an excuse for not having to deal with the hassle of switching employees.
