Can my friend switch from an ED visa to a Non-B visa after graduation in Thailand?

Hello group!!

Does someone whose ED visa expires in October and want to continue working in Thailand should get the Non-B sorted out now? My friend finishes university here in October so he wouldn’t have a degree until then. And are there anyway to change the type of visa without leaving the country and spend a ton of money for quarantine? He wants to change to Non-B after he graduates. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquires about transitioning from an ED visa to a Non-B visa after graduation in Thailand. Comments suggest that the friend must sort out the Non-B visa before starting work and highlight that it's uncommon to change visas related to study to those related to employment without leaving the country. Various opinions on the necessity of having a degree for employment in Thailand are also shared.

To apply for a conversion or to apply for a new Extension on Stay is depending on the fact that your employer can meet any of the requirements, sit down with your employer, take them to immigration and to the Ministry of Labor.

I understand that you like more information, but we do not have a database with requirements for all applications at the over 70 Immigration offices and for sure not a database with each and every employer and his business set up.

Just to remind everyone (and the OP)

A person *DOES NOT* need a degree to work in Thailand, unless they are working in a job that requires a license that requires a degree.

To my knowledge, I never heard of anyone going from an extension of stay based on studying at a university to an extension of stay based on employment. Once your university program is finished in October, you may need to leave the country

Your ED visa is Employment Prohibited

you should get the Non B visa and work permit before you start working

so we are not able to convert ED full sticker on passport to Non B visa , but we might be able to apply extension stay based as employment right?
