I'm in Bangkok and I've been offered a job at a university, I didn't previously have a work permit or non-B visa (I'm on a tourist visa extension which turned into amnesty). Does anyone know if I can get a non-B at immigration here if I take all the required documents? Thanks in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user in Bangkok is seeking advice on whether it's possible to convert their tourist visa extension (currently under amnesty) to a Non-B visa after receiving a job offer from a university. Comments suggest that due to the amnesty, converting to a Non-B visa may not be allowed within Thailand, as some immigration offices require a valid stay period that the user may not have.

I have no experience with this but why not put the burden on the University. At least push for that first. Hope it comes together for you ✌️

On the comments of that post it seems as if at least one person was able to do it all here by first getting a temporary extension stamp...others have been turned down.

its in process...I think it very well may happen. But proceed to prep and submit.

And with that hopeful outlook..

To convert from a Tourist visa into a Non Immigrant visa you need at least 15 (some offices 21) days of valid stay left on your entry stamp or the 30 day Extension of Stay. As you are using the amnesty you can not convert this into a new visa inside the country, there are rumors that it will be possible but as far as known, nobody did get the visa.

Thanks Robert. That seems like it would make it almost impossible for anyone here to start a new job legally.

it is the way you look at it, people using tourist visa should have left the country, but it seems there a still a few left and they waited to long for alternative options
