TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among commenters is that taking a fly-thru flight from Krabi to Bangkok with a transit in KL, without passing through immigration in KL, will still count as a border run. This is because the traveler would have technically exited Thailand by going through international departures, regardless of whether or not they received an immigration stamp in Malaysia. Various commenters emphasize the importance of passing through immigration when leaving Thailand, suggesting that the act of leaving the country is what counts rather than the presence of stamps from another country's immigration.

You cannot re enter any country without entering another country, the only time you are allowed to re enter is if the other country you tried to enter denied you entry and either stamped your passport denied or they gave you a letter stating you were refused entry.

Immigration NEVER checks stamps from other countries you just left when entering Thailand by air EXCEPT if related to yellow fever. Malaysia doesn't even stamp passports anymore and this year Thailand will cease stamping passports on arrival (Hong Kong and Singapore passports already don't need entry stamps) so this isn't a thing.

What may be an issue is a same day return to Thailand and Malaysia may or may not kick up a fuss for not entering the country, but that's about it.

You can try and let us know. I guess it would depend upon the immigration officer and if caught it may risk your DTV. Why not just immigrate out at KL and return immediately?

It absolutely will count.. All those saying it wont because of a lack of stamps are just simply guessing wrong.

You stamp out at international departures.. You will arrive on an an international inbound flight.. You then stamp back in. This is exactly the same as many many other countries that dont stamp passports.

I am a little surprised you can stay airside for a BKK KL BKK connection but hey.

Keep your inbound boarding pass showing KL BKK flight info until past immigration.

No, it won't count. That's the same as going to the airport and then saying you won't take the flight you booked. You definitively can enter again but this won't reset your stay days.

Nobody said it isn't. The question was whether doing that would reset the days for the stay. And no, it doesn't.

Once you get stamped out it resets the day of stay. How do you assume it doesn't? Do you know that in order to take an international flights you need to go through the immigration, once you passed the immigration you're technically out of the country already. I repeat, plz stop spreading misinformation

No you do need to exit Thailand and enter another country before re-entry

I would really double check on this situation ie trying to return to Thailand without entering another country. If it was so easy why did people pay to enter Laos, and in the past Cambodia, if they could have turned around and came back into Thailand at the border right after being stamped out and no entry to another country.

yes it will. Whenever you leave thailand for a foreigner country then you have to use the international departure (and exit stamp) and not the domestic one

Most passengers, Thai and foreign, are told to use the autogates when leaving via Suvarnabhumi. You have to insist on using a manned counter if you prefer.

Why are you claiming something false? Every time you leave the country, you must go through the immigration which will give u an exit stamp. You cannot land in another country while you still in Thailand, no matter what. And the immigration won't care if you get a stamp from another country as not all the countries would stamp your passport in (especially if you are a resident there)

dude, please turn on your brain instead of asking things to Gemini .Every time you fly out to a foreigner country, you MUST go through the immigration that gives you a stamp of exit. The immigration doesn't care if you get a stamp on your passport or not, they won't know and they don't care. All they care is you leaving the country and have that recorded on their system.
