immigration officers at Krabi office seemed to say we can’t do that or it’s not good to
looking at consequences as we prefer to stay in Koh Lipe in return for a few days verus Langakawi

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around the feasibility of performing a quick border run at Langkawi and immediately re-entering Thailand. While some participants agree that it's possible to exit Thailand, travel to another country, and return quickly, others underscore that specific border rules may apply, particularly at crossings that require a minimum stay. The advice of immigration officials at Krabi has been questioned, with suggestions that local guides may not always provide reliable information. Ultimately, clarity on immigration policies and practical experiences from fellow expats are highlighted.

Well as it goes this way it is time to close it down.
Yes, I am weird. But it was not me who asked on this page about a border run. It was not me who asked about overstay a few days ago.
I did answer in a nice and polite way.
Yes, it is me who accept the rules and regulations to live inside Thailand and YES it is ME who also respect the rules of this page. You may call me weird for trying to help you out and show respect to others. Good luck and if you have any more questions, feel free to ask but do not attack the people who try to help you.
Last time I did a border run was at Chong Chom border crossing. I had the company of a 'local guide'. He 'advised' me to pay an extra 500 bath to avoid the obligation of staying in Cambodia for a least one night. Scam or not, I don't start a discussion for a mere 15 euro. So I paid and returned to Thailand with all the stamps I needed in about 10 minutes ...
1. What does Chong Chom border have to do with Langakawi border? I believe Chong Chom border is the one with Cambodia, and Langakawi is with Malaysia, right?
2. TO my knowledge, the only border where you have to spend the night is at Poi Pet, Cambodia. That's a Cambodian law, and not a Thai law.
There is nothing in the rules that says you can't go to a border, stamp out of thailand, stamp in&out of another country, turn right around and stamp back into thailand.
HOWEVER with that being said there are border CROSSINGS where they make you stay in the other country for 24 hours before you can stamp back into thailand. That is just a rule at that crossing to discourage bouncers (people who bounce out and right back in).
The immigration officers at Krabi immigration don't have a clue as far as what you can and can't do at a BORDER, I wouldn't trust their advice at all :O
The FIRST issue was wasting the time to even talk to an immigration officer (in an office NOT at a border) about what you can and can't do at a border crossing. The people who work in the immigration offices INSIDE the country don't know jack sh*t about what actually happens AT a border crossing because they don't work at one :O
Knowing the distance, the time needed to travel in minivan and boats, I would say Krabi Immigration has a very good point that it can not be done in one day by leaving and coming back into Krabi.
Traveling and staying in hotels has absolute nothing to do with Thai visa advice. Sorry, if you did not make a correct budget planning for your holiday, it might be time to go home, work and save for a next holiday, than to try to extend you stay in Thailand.
my last border run was last week. I stamped out Thailand, filled in application form for Laos Visa on Arrival and got this, stayed 1 minute in Laos, time needed to walk around the office and inform bus driver I not continue toward town. Stamped out and 45 minutes after I left, got stamped into Thailand.
No harassment, no arrest, no guns on the table, nothing else than a Welcome in Thailand and see you in 90 days again.
