TLDR : Answer Summary
A 3-month single entry visa does not 'restart' upon leaving and re-entering Thailand. Upon leaving, the visa is considered used and will not allow re-entry without a re-entry permit. If you opt for a re-entry permit, you will not gain additional time on your stay. Alternatively, upon re-entering Thailand, you may receive a 60-day stamp, which can be extended by an additional 30 days at an immigration office, depending on your circumstances.

You can stay 3 months (90 days) on a visa exemption by getting it extended for 30 days at an immigration office.

Why not just get a proper long term Visa?
6 month multi entry, Non-O (which depends on your life and relationship status), Ed Visa, DTV remote workers, DTV soft skills.
Why risk border bounces a second long than you have to?
I have done 1 in six years and aside from that I go between NonB and soon NonO. I keep my business as a backup on my WP as well. So if I ever have to be on my own Non B in the future that is also a plan.
As they move towards eVisa portals expect the rules to become a lot of unilaterally applied.
Okay cool so basically I can stay for 2 months, leave to Cambodia for 2-3 weeks then back to Thailand for another 2 months, so technically 4 months, & is there a limit one can do?
That is very good information and I read it almost twice already, that was one of my concerns.
I want to stay in Thailand for 3 months but also wanted to visit Cambodia & Philippines because they have casinos for me to play poker and wanted to return back to Thailand after 3 weeks.
i’ll have to double check everything now, maybe for first time just stay for the full 3 months & then fly out to the other countries and then home.
Hmm 🤔 now I’m not sure thanks for the information.
difference is one talks about visa the other talks about 60 day visa exempt 2 different things.
You said 90 day visa. Thats a retirement visa. A tourist visa is mostly only 60 days then you apply for 30 days at a cost of 1900baht.
OR are you actually coming visa exempt as many countries can

There's no such thing as a visa that "restarts" again.
A visa grants you a certain number of days when you enter Thailand, and that is your permission to stay.
A multiple-entry visa grants you those number of days every time you enter while the visa is valid.
As there are no 3 month multiple-entry visas, you are talking about a single entry visa.
That means when you enter Thailand, your visa would be used, gone, done, no longer valid. You would just have a permission to stay stamp in your passport. When you leave, that stamp will be cancelled unless you purchase a re-entry permit. If you return with a re-entry permit, you receive the same entry stamp that you left with, and it does not add any extra time. So if you left for 3 weeks and returned, you would only get a stamp for 1-2 weeks in your passport.
That was very helpful thank you very much for your help and sharing this information.
Yeah my plan was to get a 3 month condo rental & leave half my belongings in my condo to leave Thailand for 3 weeks to visit other country and come back.
I’m nervous as to not mess anything up lol 😆
I heard people go to jail for overstaying and didn’t want any confusions.
