TLDR : Answer Summary
The original inquiry is about the status of a 3-month Thai visa upon re-entering Thailand after a trip to Cambodia. The comments clarify that a single-entry visa does not 'restart' upon leaving Thailand; it becomes invalid upon exit unless a re-entry permit is purchased. Without this permit, returning to Thailand would result in a new entry stamp for a limited duration, typically only 1-2 weeks. Suggestions for a long-term visa like a NON-O are also mentioned, as well as options for extending stays.

Be careful with visiting cambodia. If shits kicks off again they usually close the borders and you'll have to fly back. Possibly.

You can stay 3 months (90 days) on a visa exemption by getting it extended for 30 days at an immigration office.

So is a normal visa 30 days or 60? So when I land to thailand I’m going to pattaya & can I do 90 days there in pattaya?

Are the immigration offices all over or specific locations?

visa exenpt which you get on arrival is 60 days (depending upon your nationality) this can be extended at any immigration office there are plenty all over Thailand

Why not just get a proper long term Visa?

6 month multi entry, Non-O (which depends on your life and relationship status), Ed Visa, DTV remote workers, DTV soft skills.

Why risk border bounces a second long than you have to?

I have done 1 in six years and aside from that I go between NonB and soon NonO. I keep my business as a backup on my WP as well. So if I ever have to be on my own Non B in the future that is also a plan.

As they move towards eVisa portals expect the rules to become a lot of unilaterally applied.

because they don’t need one. Waste of time and money

I would not do that at this time

Yeah do the multiple entry

Okay cool so basically I can stay for 2 months, leave to Cambodia for 2-3 weeks then back to Thailand for another 2 months, so technically 4 months, & is there a limit one can do?

That is very good information and I read it almost twice already, that was one of my concerns.

I want to stay in Thailand for 3 months but also wanted to visit Cambodia & Philippines because they have casinos for me to play poker and wanted to return back to Thailand after 3 weeks.

i’ll have to double check everything now, maybe for first time just stay for the full 3 months & then fly out to the other countries and then home.

Hmm 🤔 now I’m not sure thanks for the information.

.

David you over thinking it my friend 🙏🏼

You fly in and will get 60days as standard. If you want to stay more you can go pay the fee at an immigration office and get 30more days

Then you will need to leave the country.

As you will be leaving early you will just be stamped out as others are saying. That is you now left Thailand .

Do what else you need to in other countries be it 1week -1month + .

Then book a flight back to Thailand once you come it all starts again my friend 60days. And extra 30 for a fee which is around 1500baht.

Points to note.

Have ur ticket to Cambodia booked or where ever already so it shows u are leaving if asked. Don’t show anything unless they ask you.

And if asked why you have come back after such a short time away well you love Thailand as we all do best place in the world. Always works for me.

Enjoy in the land of smiles 🤗🇹🇭😄😬😇

Awesome thank you so much for your help, can I ask is there immigration offices everywhere? or specifically location?

I’ll be in Pattaya most of my stay, thanks.
Tom *******
@BigNick ******
exactly .. my next visit will be that. 60 day entry stamp then pay for 30 more days. Trip #8 getting closer! 🇹🇭

You should get another 60 days when you return to Thailand

That’s interesting compared to the previous comment above, i’ll definitely look into it, thank you.

difference is one talks about visa the other talks about 60 day visa exempt 2 different things.

You said 90 day visa. Thats a retirement visa. A tourist visa is mostly only 60 days then you apply for 30 days at a cost of 1900baht.

OR are you actually coming visa exempt as many countries can
Brandon ************
There's no such thing as a visa that "restarts" again.

A visa grants you a certain number of days when you enter Thailand, and that is your permission to stay.

A multiple-entry visa grants you those number of days every time you enter while the visa is valid.

As there are no 3 month multiple-entry visas, you are talking about a single entry visa.

That means when you enter Thailand, your visa would be used, gone, done, no longer valid. You would just have a permission to stay stamp in your passport. When you leave, that stamp will be cancelled unless you purchase a re-entry permit. If you return with a re-entry permit, you receive the same entry stamp that you left with, and it does not add any extra time. So if you left for 3 weeks and returned, you would only get a stamp for 1-2 weeks in your passport.

that’s not what happened when I did this last year. I was able to leave for Cambodia and then get another 60 day visa when I re-entered Thailand. Lots of travellers I know have done this as well
John *******
@Noa *******
- Do you mean you entered Thailand on a

visa exemption, which is 60 days? This is separate than an actual tourist visa. Some countries don’t need a visa and can just show up and enter without a visa. Others need a visa in advance (or in some cases on arrival).

@John ******
ohh yes yes I was on a visa exemption that makes sense

That was very helpful thank you very much for your help and sharing this information.

Yeah my plan was to get a 3 month condo rental & leave half my belongings in my condo to leave Thailand for 3 weeks to visit other country and come back.

I’m nervous as to not mess anything up lol 😆

I heard people go to jail for overstaying and didn’t want any confusions.
