Does the 90 reporting applies only if you are physically in the country ? For example, on the 80th day, I exit the country and 20 days later I re-enter (lets assume all re-entry permit, validity etc is ok). In this case am I 10 days late, or does the 90 day clock starts again at day 1 of re-enter date.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The 90-day reporting requirement in Thailand applies only when you are physically in the country for 90 consecutive days. If you exit the country before reaching the 90 days, the counting resets to day one upon re-entry. It is crucial to report to Thai Immigration within 24 hours of re-entering Thailand; when doing so, you can confirm your next 90-day report date with the immigration officer.

In most jurisdictions, you are required to report to Thai Immigration within 24 hours of reentering Thailand (for reasons other than 90 days reporting). When you report in the 24 hours specified you can ask the I/O to clarify your 90 day report date. And it may not necessarily be 90 days from the date of reentering Thailand.

I believe those discussions were about 90 day reporting when you get a new yearly extension of stay.

Some immigration offices "sync" your 90 day report when you get a new extension <- meaning they start your new 90 day count down from the date you got your extension.

Most immigration offices don't do this and your 90 day report runs every 90 days as long as you don't leave the country no matter whether you get a new yearly extension or not

Other than that I don't know what it could be.

Right about the 24 hour reporting but the 90 day always restarts from when you re-enter.

I recall a number of discussions in the last year that concluded differently... that the original 90 day count date in play would not be altered.

If you come back into the country of thailand your next 90 day report is ALWAYS 89 days from the date you arrive :/

Why wouldn’t it be?

A 90 day report is necessary only when someone spends 90 consecutive days in the country. Once you exit, the count resets and starts again from 1 when you reenter.
