Hi, it is possible to apply for a different visa during the period of validity of my current one or I have to wait until it expires? I have a METV that expires in December but I would like to apply for a DTV in November in a neighboring country. Thank you

TLDR : Answer Summary
The query discusses the possibility of applying for a different visa (DTV) while holding a valid Multiple Entry Tourism Visa (METV) that expires in December. Responses include confirmation from a Thai embassy indicating that applying for a new visa while holding a valid METV is possible. However, there's also advice suggesting to use the full validity period of the current METV before applying for a new visa.

Asked same question to Thai embassy in Poland and they said that I could apply while having a valid METV

Why wouldn't you get all the time out of the METV that you have? I mean what is the rush to jump on a DTV? ๐Ÿ˜•

I'd just keep the METV and once you get the last entry on it and the visa has expired THEN go and apply.

You're asking a question that most likely can't be answered seeing as this visa is a month old today ๐Ÿ˜•

Personally I would think going sooner is a good idea especially for the Soft Option in case they toughen up and these become "harder"

I was asking because I'm going to Vientiane anyway so I figured I could also apply for the DTV.

makes sense, give it a go, worst case they won't let you in the gate to apply (although someone with an ED visa and a re-entry permit was able to attempt to apply at Savannakhet, they were denied but not because of the current valid visa in their passport)

Thanks. I don't have a visa sticker so they would probably only notice later though. I think I'll give it a shot since it would save me a trip one month later.

they will know you have an eVisa because of your entry stamp to thailand
