Hi I’m just applying online for my tourist multi entry visa. I have all my documents and have attached them. The only one I’m unsure about is my proof of travel, I fly on 1/10/26 to BKk and have a return flight on the 24/3/27, so not within the 60 days of arrival. I plan to leave within the 60 days by land or air to a destination I fancy visiting for few days and return a few days later and do similar within the following 60 days until I can catch my return flight to the UK. Will I get refused my visa if I don’t have proof of departure within 60 days of my initial UK flight?
Answer summary
The user is applying for a Multiple Entry Tourist Visa (METV) to Thailand and is concerned about proof of travel since their return flight to the UK is scheduled 174 days after their arrival in Thailand. Responses clarify that a travel itinerary showing exit within the first 60 days is required by Thai authorities, with suggestions including the possibility of booking a 'throwaway' ticket or scheduling a return within this timeframe. Clarification from other commenters indicates that recent applications may not require extensive documentation beyond a flight booking and suggests ways to provide proof of travel according to visa regulations.

Can i clarify something when i asked the Thai Embassy in London they told me that i would need to show a flight into Thailand and a flight out after 60 days for the METV and no mention of another flight back in to Thailand.

Tourist Visa (Multiple Entries)

Tourist Visa is valid for multiple entries within 6 months from the date of issuance.

Travellers will be permitted to stay in Thailand for up to 60 days, starting from the date of entry. After reaching 60 days, visa holders must leave Thailand and re-enter to continue their legal stay.

If travellers wish to maximise their length of stay, they must begin using the Tourist Visa (Multiple Entries) as soon as the visa has been approved.

The visa fee costs £150.

Remarks: If any tourist visa holder breaches the entry conditions (e.g., engagement in work-related activities), the stay permit will be revoked, and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

Required documents

Purpose of visit: Tourism/Leisure activities.

Biodata page of Passport or Travel Document

Photograph taken within the last six months in a passport format

Document indicating the current residency

For non-UK or non-Irish nationals, proof of immigration status in the UK/Ireland is required.

For UK or Irish nationals, a driving licence or utility bills must be provided.

Proof of accommodation in Thailand (e.g., accommodation bookings or invitation letters from family/friends in Thailand)

Accommodation booking must have details of the applicant's name, check-in and check-out dates, address, and contact number of your accommodation.

Invitation letters from family/friends must be submitted with their respective official photo ID.

Travel booking confirmation issued by an airline (e.g., flight details showing the applicant’s name, departure date, all flights en route from the UK/Ireland/UK territories to Thailand and onward flight to another destination)

Financial evidence showing the applicant’s name, address, and a minimum closing balance of £700 (for a single entry) or £5,000 (for multiple entries) from the last 3 months (e.g. bank statements, proof of earnings, or a sponsorship letter)

John Doughty You can extend the 60 days another 30 while in country, so max stay of 90 days. A letter so stating may be enough to show why ticket out isn't within 60 days.

Lee Wigglesworth no it can't be a bus ticket. That is a bad advice. Stick to what John Stanners replied

You could just book a 'throw away' plane or bus ticket to ensure you enter trouble free.

For METV you must supply the following. Ticket into Thailand, ticket out and ticket back in. No screenshots.

I applied yesterday and I DIDN'T have to do that. I just uploaded my flight details for next month and said I would be leaving within 60days, which is essential when applying for an METV. All I supplied was my flight, passport and photo, bank statement and address where I'm staying. Nothing else. This was the same last year too. I applied yesterday morning and I have received it already.

To get the Multiple Entry Tourist Visa you need to show a need for it, so ticket into Thailand, ticket out of Thailand in first 60 days and a ticket back to Thailand

thanks so if I buy a ticket out of Thailand say 55 days after my arrival then returning to Thailand say day 58 and attach that with my international flights? Will they not question my 2nd length of stay then?

Lee Wigglesworth you could extend each 60 day stamp by 30 more days for 1900 baht many people have gotten close to 9 months out of a METV
