How to manage cancel a valid visa? I have a METV issued by Beijing, and they said they cannot cancel it. But I want to apply DTV now…

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is seeking guidance on canceling a valid METV (Multiple Entry Tourist Visa) issued by Beijing to apply for a DTV (Digital Nomad Visa). The discussion reveals that cancellation of the METV may not be possible and suggests that the user will need to wait for the METV to expire before applying for the DTV. It is noted that both visas are issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and cannot be held simultaneously. If the user is in Thailand, they may cancel at a local immigration office; if abroad, at the issuing embassy.

If e-visa, then apply at different embassy.

Thanks, I use google translate it was easier to understand you but you should write in Thai as you are Thai immigration expert. This is DTV group, not SETV/METV group, I don't know if it's possible to still have a physical sticker for METV or not but it is for DTV. Original advice still stands, apply at different embassy and possibly get a new passport.

Most foreigners and visitors of Thailand do not speak Thai, so I explain the rules in English, which is not my native language.

As you missed some classes, this is special for you:

Do you really think visas and passports are not linked?

Why is it you need to bring your e-visa with you when you fly in? And why is it people are being given tourist exceptions when they have phyiscal stickers in their passport and immigration officer doesn't see it?

I stand and look at the screen regularly (i'm not an IO). theres no field to tell them. There are ways to tell looking at ti though. Your records come up when the scan the eMRTD and based on hostory they can see.

I doubt you'll be able to move to a DTV if they refuse to cancel your METV. You could apply with immigration in Thailand for another type of Non-immigrant visa but DTV is a tourist visa as the METV; both are controlled and issued by the MFA.

You can try but you may get denied. I've seen some posts here of people on METV who got refused.

IF you are inside Thailand, you cancel the visa at your local Immigration Office,

IF you are abroad, you cancel the visa at the Embassy where it is issued.

You Cannot cancel. Also you need it to be expired before can apply DTV. as you cant hold two visas at same time
