Does a tourist visa extension in Thailand start from the expiration date or the application date?

When applying for a tourist visa extension in Thailand, if approved, the new extension will start on the expiration date of your current visa stamp, not the date of the application. Extensions typically add 30 days to your existing visa, and you can apply for the extension between 7 to 45 days before your current visa expires.
