When I'm in Thailand, if I apply for 30 day extension (to say 30 day visa exemption or 2 mth tourist visa) is the extension granted from application date (ie then lose say 2-5 days off original period) or from expiry of original period?

Important because I need to know exit date to buy onward ticket prior to entering country.

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a 30-day extension of either a visa exemption or a tourist visa in Thailand, the extension is granted based on the expiry date of the original visa period, not from the application date. This means you will receive an additional 30 days starting from the original visa's expiry date.
