Hi guys I’m planning to extend my time in the immigration office and last year I extended it, it looks like it was extended on the day of application not from the end of my visa date. Could someone confirm if it starts from the date you apple or start from the end of your visa stamp

Thank you in advance !

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for a visa extension in Thailand, the extension begins from the date of application if the application is based on a different reason than the original visa. However, generally, extensions related to the same reasons as the initial visa will extend from the original visa's end date. It's important to review the specific conditions on your extension sticker, as it will detail the permitted duration in relation to your entry stamp.

Your extension sticker will say it is issued on whatever day you applied. But the “permitted up to” should be 30 days after the “until” date on your entry stamp.

I would say you applied 15 days before your entry stamp expired so got a 30 day extension to that stamp

Makes a lot of sense now sorry my dumb brain couldn’t make it out 🤣 thank you guys ! I got so confused with like 9 stamps from Thailand cause I kept flying out for holidays not visa runs 😂

45 days was during covid, you will get 30 days and it will be added to your current stamp

what was the exit date on your entry stamp? I’m not aware of them ever giving 45 day extensions so are you sure it’s not 30 days after your original exit date? Regardless, currently the extension is from your current exit date not the date of application. I just had mine extended a couple weeks ago.

4th may. Ahh thank you so I can go anytime now to extend cause I was thinking if they rejected it then I’ll have 1 day to leave 😂

so they gave you a 30 day extension from the 4th of May to the 3rd of June. Your original visa exemption was 45 days but the extension was a 30 day extension from your exit date, not 45 from your application date. It just happened to fall 45 days from your application date which I think is where the confusion lies.

If you apply for an extension based on the same reason as your visa or entry stamp, it should be added on to the end.

If you apply for a different reason or a special case then it may start from the time you applied.

If you're talking about a 7 day "application denied" stamp, that will also start the day you apply.

so a tourist 30 day extension should be added to the end

the stamp on my passport is the free 30 day stamp you get when entering. I’m not sure if that is a visa or what it is. Sorry I’m quite new to all this !
