TLDR : Answer Summary
You cannot just turn up at the Thai embassy in Vientiane to apply for a tourist visa. An appointment must be made online via the official website, as walk-ins are not accepted. It's important to prepare the necessary documents according to the visa type and fill out the visa application form beforehand.

You have not said what your passport nation is?
And what your recent history of staying in Thailand is ??
Those are very important questions...
Especially if you are going to apply for a Thai Visa in any SE Asian Thai Embassy or Consulate.
Suggest you ask a local experienced Thai Visa run service company IF they will take you to get a NEW Thai visa? They will know IF it's possible.
thank you but I did say Oz passport ( Australian) my husband and I came on a TV and extended for 30 days . We were hoping to go to Vientiane to get another TV before returning home to Oz .
rather than getting a Thai Visa, do a BORDER BOUNCE and that gets you 30 days stamp on arrival into Thailand and then can get a 30 day extension of stay at Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht. You can do 2 land BORDER BOUNCE entries EACH CALENDAR YEAR.
So you can do one now in 2023 and then in 2024 could do 2 More land BORDER BOUNCE entries into Thailand.
Safe travels and Enjoy your holidays in Thailand π
