TLDR : Answer Summary
You cannot just turn up at the Thai embassy in Vientiane to apply for a tourist visa. An appointment must be made online via the official website, as walk-ins are not accepted. It's important to prepare the necessary documents according to the visa type and fill out the visa application form beforehand.

You have not said what your passport nation is?

And what your recent history of staying in Thailand is ??

Those are very important questions...

Especially if you are going to apply for a Thai Visa in any SE Asian Thai Embassy or Consulate.

Suggest you ask a local experienced Thai Visa run service company IF they will take you to get a NEW Thai visa? They will know IF it's possible.

Good Luck πŸ€

Best to always use Australia and not OZ. A lot of people on forums may not know what OZ is or where it is. Ok if posting on an Australian forum. πŸ˜‰

Suggest you ask a local experienced border run service company to take you with return the same day.

rather than getting a Thai Visa, do a BORDER BOUNCE and that gets you 30 days stamp on arrival into Thailand and then can get a 30 day extension of stay at Thai Immigration office for 1900 Thai baht. You can do 2 land BORDER BOUNCE entries EACH CALENDAR YEAR.

So you can do one now in 2023 and then in 2024 could do 2 More land BORDER BOUNCE entries into Thailand.

No walk-ins will be accepted.

Prepare documents according to the visa type and fill the visa application form.

Visit the Consular Section of the Royal Thai Embassy, Vientiane on the date and at the time of your appointment. Submit the documents and pay the visa fee.

Hey Lloyd. How about going the other way from Nong Kai? Can a Canadian with Thai Non-O status get a Lao visa on arrival in Vientiane?
Brandon ************
@Mark ********
yes. You can also apply for evisa on arrival online and skip some of the line

Thnks Brandon so I can do it online or on arrival? Is it a visa for the same length of time? Around the same cost presumably?
Brandon ************
@Mark ********
you can either do visa on arrival or fill in everything for the visa on arrival online before you go and there's a different line at the border.

@Mark ********
the Laos e-visa is slightly more expensive but will save you a full page in your passport vs the visa on arrival in Laos.

Thanks Ryan. I serm to remember that Lao visas are brutally large.
