TLDR : Answer Summary
The COVID-19 visa extension program is available in Phuket until May 24th, but its issuance is at the discretion of the immigration officer. Users suggest bringing the necessary documents, including your passport, TM30 form, T6 card, and a copy of your landing stamp. While some users have reported success in obtaining extensions at Phuket Immigration, others recommend securing a standard 30-day extension first if coming off a tourist visa. There are also discussions about alternatives, such as border runs to extend your stay.

I guess you have to? I can and may only need another 30 days, but would love to just skip that and get a 60 day extension instead. I’m in Phuket.

Just did my 2nd extension in BKK last week. There were lots of people there. Go early.

Did you get the full 60 days or “under consideration” stamp?

well i was there 30 days ago with a stamp, then had to come back last week, and get a 2nd stamp.

From Phuket you can 100% get the covid extension. Chiang Mai also highly likely you will receive. Pattaya awkward. Just take your passport, tm30 (form from condo or hotel to state you stay there). T6, the card you received when landing. Copy those 3 things as well as your landing stamp which you can do at any immigration.

Why do you assume every farang lives in a condo? Some of us live in these much more desirable places called houses.

thx! Even directly after the 60 days TouristVisa? Or do i first need the normal 30 days Extension?

@Andreas *******
at least for me, the Chiang Mai office made me get the 30-day extension before I could apply for the Covid “extension,” but the Covid visa was actually considered a new visa that started from the date of issuance, so it wound up overlapping with that 30-day extension instead of getting added to the end.

So, your safe bet might be to get the 30-day extension now, along with all the paperwork for the Covid visa, and then go back to immigration on the 24th with all that paperwork already ready, to see if they’ll let you get the Covid visa. If they extend the program yet again, they probably won’t announce that until the 24th, so you won’t know until you show up.

Big thx guys. Will first try to get the covid extension, if not then 30 days extension will do it for the first time

as for needing the 30 day extension first, I know that’s a requirement if you’re on a visa exempt, not sure about coming off a tourist visa. You do know you can do a border run from some locations now? Look up which are open again, I know some of the Cambodian, Malaysian and Load borders have opened. You can literally step through immigration on the Thai side, get stamped out, turn around and come straight back into Thailand proper. You will have to do another Thai Pass and get your covid insurance etc… But I had a friend just do this on Cambodian border. You have options.

@Andreas *******
Phuket will do it… They’re the easiest going and can’t be bothered with hassle. Where are you right now?

It still exists but it's at the discretion of the officer, they aren't compelled to issue it to you even if you meet the criteria

The program still exists until May 24th so you may be able to apply until then.

Beware that as the country and borders have opened up, more and more offices are now refusing to even accept applications for this extension.

Really!

Thanks

the BKK office was moved to a new place. I tried to extend mine on Monday and got a stamp to come back on the 30th.

@Justin ****
I haven't heard Bangkok stop but some places won't even let you apply anymore
Justin *****
@Brandon ***********
Wow!

I am not even sure what that stamp means- no extension or come back on the 30th then they will decide.
Brandon ************
@Justin ****
it means when you go back you'll get the rest. We've never heard of anyone not get it once they received the under consideration stamp
