TLDR : Answer Summary
To obtain a marriage visa for Thailand, it's best to apply for a Non-O visa at your local Thai embassy or consulate in Canada, especially if you are married or planning to marry a Thai citizen. Some commenters suggest having sufficient financial resources and seeking a reputable visa agent to facilitate the process. It's important to be aware of the legal requirements, such as confirming your marriage to an individual rather than a legal entity. Though experiences vary, many recommend getting involved in the local culture and meeting potential partners before finalizing any visa plans.
NON-O RETIREMENT VISA RESOURCES / SERVICES
  • Go to the Retirement Visa Section for information on requirements, including age restrictions, financial requirements, and necessary documentation.
  • For immediate assistance, contact Thai Visa Centre directly via LINE at @ThaiVisaCentre or Email them.
  • Explore recent discussions by using the Non-O Retirement Visa tag in the search box at the top of the page.
  • Join the Thai Visa Advice Facebook Group to ask your questions, and get advice from others.

I see from the comments that a lot of angry old farang got bad experiences and now are playing smart, lol! Just because you made mistakes doesn't mean everyone will. Not every Thai woman you marry require you to pay her family, or to be rich, I'm proof of that, lol! You mostly hear only the bad experiences in such group, do not get discouraged. The low of the low foreigners are in these group whining all day that "life is tough" and that women are so difficult. They are failing for a reason, do not listen to them.

i agree with you on all your points but still if you have not noticed the greed in this country, then you are a fool, and for every greedy thai lady, there is a stupid farang. The people that come here looking for a honey and thinks they will buy that love with money...and there are many. When i started with my thai lady, the first discusssion i had with her was the circle of life, and i made it clear that the aunts and uncles, village monk, the headman, the buffaloes etc were not in the circle and i even made a drawing.....she understood and i have never had a problem.

don't take humor as a bad thing or read to much into it. just because someone makes a joke doesn't mean they had a bad experiene or are jaded... and definately doesn't mean some random guy has the right to insult them πŸ˜‰ it only makes you look petty.

I personally am not that old and have had some very nice experiences with the women in this country and in fact am quite happy with my girlfriend who stays with me.

bad or good experiences can happen anywhere with anyone it has nothing to do with a response someone makes on social media in fact probably doesnt.

not plain sailing at all. The entire marriage visa process is incredibly cumbersome and difficult. They don't want us to marry Thai women.

Mary a Thai girl and get her parents permission before you ask her ..... don't forget to check the id to make sure its a girl though.

You can't marry Thailand. You must select a person in Thailand. Current laws require the person be the opposite sex. Best of luck

Why not apply for an extension based on retirement?

Find a thai lady, show her the money, and she will know what to do from there.
