TLDR : Answer Summary
The user inquires about switching from a Tourist Visa (TR) to an Educational Visa (ED) while studying in Thailand. Responses suggest that it is sometimes possible to obtain a 90-day Non-Immigrant Type ED visa from a local immigration office if the user is enrolled in a recognized university. The university must provide necessary documentation. However, in many cases, the procedure involves exiting Thailand to acquire a single-entry ED visa from a Thai consulate in another country. It is essential to have enough time left on the current visa to complete the application process.

Then as
@Rob***
said, your university along with the Ministry of Education will provide you all the documentation to go to the immigration office that serves the area where you live and you apply for a 90 day Non-Immigrant Type ED visa there

You will also need so many days left on your current stamp to thailand to get the process done because applications for in country Non-Immigrant type visas go under consideration for 2 weeks before you go back and get the Non-ED visa stamped into your passport.

Good Luck (y)

If you are enrolled in a real university for a degree program SOMETIMES you can get the 90 day Non-Immigrant Type ED visa inside the country at the immigration office

BUT

most of the time you get documentation from your school, go to a thai consulate in another country and get a 90 day single entry ED visa.

That's how it works ;)

But you will need to go outside the country to get a single entry Non-Imm Ed visa.
