Do we need to take our kids to the immigration office for ED visa extension in Thailand?

Good day,

We are here on an ED visa through our kids who are enrolled in an international school in Phuket. We now have to apply for the extension from 90 days to 1 year.

Does anyone know if we have to take the kids with us to the immigration office for the application or it’s fine just to have all the necessary documentation?

TLDR : Answer Summary
When applying for an ED visa extension in Thailand, it is generally required to have the child present if the visa is obtained based on their enrollment. However, some users have reported successfully obtaining extensions without bringing their children, as long as they provided necessary documentation from the school confirming the child's enrollment.

Haven’t done it for a few years now but when I got the yearly extensions I never took my kids. I did need paperwork from the school confirming my child was attending.

thanks. I have all necessary paperwork so let’s hope that’s enough. Don’t fancy having two young kids with us while waiting at immigration 🤪

Generally if you are applying for an extension based on another person, that person must be present also

yes initially we thought so and took our kids with for the first 90 days visa application which was done in another country. It was chaos and they said we don’t need them here as long as have necessary a paperwork.
