TLDR : Answer Summary
The process for obtaining an Education visa in Thailand can vary depending on the school's workload for document preparation. Typically, you can submit your application at a Thai Embassy or Consulate in the morning and retrieve it the next working day. Additionally, it's noted that a Non-Immigrant O visa can be extended for a maximum of one year, but there is no option for a 30-day extension.

Preparation of documents at the school depending on how busy the school is. Application at Thai Embassy/Consulate in the morning and pick up next working day. There is only 1 year Extension of Stay for Non Immigrant O Visa.

sorry I mis-read the post Robert is correct, O, (mostly ;) ) An O visa can be extended for a year, or for 60 days (if the O is based on marriage or raising half thai children here). Other than that there is just the "application for extension denied" 7 day stamp to get out of thailand for 1900baht.
