"Anyway a Thai VISA run to Hong Kong may seem ridiculous but our last visit was around 6,000 Baht return, and, unlike China, there is no need for a VISA to enter Hong Kong."

Is this still true for UK passport holders? What about Thai passport holders?

Thank you.

TLDR : Answer Summary
Allan Wilson mentioned in his blog that a visa run to Hong Kong from Thailand is feasible as there is no entry visa required for UK passport holders. The question is posed whether this is still applicable, and it also inquires about the situation for Thai passport holders. A comment clarifies that those applying for a Thai visa in Hong Kong need to have Hong Kong residency, highlighting that entry policies may vary.

If you're going to Hong Kong to apply for a Thai Visa, then you need to have Hong Kong residency to be able to apply.

Hong Kong is now Evisa application only.
