Has anyone applied in Hanoi, having rental income from UK?
I'd like to hear the outcome as I'm considering it, but one agent said it would be best to apply from UK in my case.๐๐

TLDR : Answer Summary
The discussion revolves around applying for a Thai Digital Work and Travel Visa (DTV) in Hanoi while having rental income from the UK. The comments suggest that rental income is considered passive and may not qualify for the DTV, which requires active work. Several users recommend applying directly from Hanoi, with suggestions on providing tax returns and a cover letter detailing work activities. The possibility of pursuing a 'soft power' route or considering other regions, like Laos, for quicker processing is also mentioned. Overall, it is crucial to clarify the nature of income and whether active management of properties can support the visa application.
My mum has been living in Hanoi ten years from the UK. She might be able to point you in some sort of direction. She has an apartment in the UK. Which she rents.
thanks Iโll definitely keep in mind, I think I found a solution to apply from Hanoi in case I decide to, I could still do it from Uk but it seems it takes longer.
Anonymous participant 749 no, right now Iโm considering all options. I might go on DTV or keep my WP. Read the OP again, it says considering..my situation here isnโt optimal thatโs why Iโm considering all options
I would recommend Laos. From when I applied it was 10 days until approval. Just get setup with a soft power course and hopefully you have proof of funds. Should be straightforward
a covering letter explaining that should do most of the work for you, but if you can show money flow and tax returns so much the better. It's not necessary to have a business licence
I'm not a fighter ๐ and I already had ED visa studying Thai for 3 years before covid, so not sure if they'll see as suspicious, can't really risk it being rejected
I do like cooking, but the courses are quite short? This has always puzzled me with the cooking courses, it's different from studying the language or Muay Thai.. how would they give me a 5y visa based on a short course?
there are plenty of qualifying cooking courses available to choose from. 3-6 month courses usually are required Embassy dependant. Lots of examples if you use the group search function.
Yes that's what the agent said, that in Hanoi they will ask for business registration etc. But I did hear that other people have done it just with rental income, although I can show some online business that doesn't bring in much.. that's what I'm also wondering.. should I show that even though it isn't much? The rental income is more than enough to live here.. and I can also show the funds. ๐ค
Hanoi is straight forward. If you dont have a company they want to see tax returns showing income and that you pay tax. Write a cover explaiming what you do etc
make your application easy to read, mark out the key notes you want them to see. The more fullfilling application and easy to read application and also following all the requirements will make the process faster and more reliable.
