Do UK citizens only need to show 500k THB for one month when applying for a DTV in Thailand and can they apply from abroad?

Is it true that when applying for DTV as a Brit you only need to have had the 500k+ THB in your account for 1 month? And also to confirm I MUST 100% apply from my home country now, not a border run etc?

Thanks
Answer summary
A UK citizen applying for the DTV visa must have at least 500,000 THB in their account for a minimum of one month. It is important to apply for the visa from the home country rather than through a border run. The immigration process has seen changes, and it is advised to check specific requirements with the local immigration office as there might be additional considerations such as supporting documentation for income verification.

there's a new (?) form for that: STM2 (change of reason for extension). It is mentioned in first requirement on handout at Bluport HH immigration for marriage extension

Isn’t marriage visa better?

Agree with Darren Johnson and

. Additionally, the paperwork/documentation you need to renew the marriage visa (in duplicate) annually is a pure headache. I do it myself every year, and my most recent extension was wrought with new headaches brought on by recent changes at my local office.

I’d rather Xfer the ฿65k per month as I use the money in Thailand anyway. The real catch is just ensuring the money is transferred reliably every calendar month. That’s not really an issue for me as I’m pretty punctual with matters like this.

There are some drawbacks (mentioned by Darren Johnson above). Still, less paperwork, transferring that amount in monthly anyway and less headaches make it a better/ easier option for me personally. (Hopefully 🤞)

less financial requirements but much more of a hassle

Jeff sort of. But from the immigration offices point if view not really. It doesn't get approved locally so all their work gets second guessed and looked at.

Takes more of their time and opens them up to more oversight. Plus it has been gamed in the past. From a nationalistic standpoint it is a step on the road to getting pr or even citizenship for some so that might also make some people not like it.

Holders like the lower bank requirements and well pretty much everything listed above. Lol

In theory it should be okay and simple. There have been more and more reports of immigration offices refusing to allow people to change the reason for their extensions though. I think you might be okay because immigration offices hate marriage extensions, but if you were trying to do it the other way around, you might get some resistance.
