Can I apply for a DTV visa from a marriage visa while showing offshore funds in the USA?

Hi everyone,

I am currently in Thailand on a marriage visa. But will be getting divorced soon. I want to apply for the DTV Muay Thai or cooking lessons. I don’t have 500,000 in my Thai account. Does anyone know if it possible to show the money offshore from my bank in the USA. If I apply for the DTV visa will it replace the marriage visa or do I have to cancel it first?

Also, does anyone know any cooking schools that does this program?

Thank you all for you time in advance.

TLDR : Answer Summary
The user is currently on a marriage visa in Thailand and is seeking advice on transitioning to a DTV visa for Muay Thai or cooking lessons amid an upcoming divorce. Several responses confirm that the DTV visa can be applied for before the divorce, and it is possible to show funds from an offshore bank account as long as the account is in the user's name and has the required balance. However, the user may need to cancel the marriage visa once applying for the DTV. Recommendations for cooking schools offering the DTV support are also sought.

There is no geo-restriction on where the money is located, it's got to be accessible and in your name.

You can get DTV visa before divorce.

Muay Thai easier to apply check at your local area that any muay Thai gym or class that you can buy course and attend for minimum 6 months ,

Also you can use any bank account of any country that belongs to you and balance since June should be not less than 500k per months until current date.

oh no didn’t know that it needed to be in there a minimum of 6 months. This changes everything. I’m in Thailand now. Do you know where I should apply ?

Anonymous participant you can apply anywhere where you physically are, except Thailand. DTV cannot be applied for in Thailand.

do you know any embassies that don’t require the 500,000 thb to be in the bank minimum of 6 months ?
Gerry ********
Anonymous participant it seems that most 'western' embassies that are issuing e-visas have no requirement for months of balance or transaction history. The statement I submitted had only 2 days of transactions and it was fine (Australia).

Yes you can show money in an offshore bank. Your marriage visa ends with your divorce, so if you apply for the DTV before that you may need to cancel that first.

The only cooking school I'm aware of that can provide the paperwork for the DTV is in bangkok, it depends where you want to be

yes in Bangkok. Can you please share the name of the school? So I can’t do the DTV visa and then get divorced ? Would be more simple

Anonymous participant I think you need to at least cancel your marriage visa, not necessarily get divorced. The school has been shared a number of times on here but I think it's this one
