TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation discusses whether Thai citizens can benefit from free quarantine upon return to Thailand, especially on non-repatriation flights. Answers are varied: some confirm that Thai citizens can get free quarantine upon returning from certain countries on repatriation flights facilitated by the embassy, while others emphasize that only specific flights, like those by national airlines, qualify. Additionally, experiences with hotel accommodations during quarantine are shared, indicating variability in quality.

I have a Thai friend who lives permanently in USA and has dual nationality. He arrived in Thailand early December and had 14 days free quarantine. He is returning to USA next week after obtaining his "Fit to fly" certificate.

Yes, for traveling from some countries, it is not necessary to fly with Thai Airways.

And for travel from certain countries Can use the existing tickets of other airlines. To enter free quarantine as well But must contact the embassy To claim And must be the same flight ticket announced by the embassy, such as Norway, Germany

I believe they do, but its a draw as to what they get for a hotel, some are getting basic hotels, and some are getting 5* luxury hotels. So they can take a chance on getting the 5* for free, or end up in a dive hotel. or pay for their own SQ and pick which hotel they want (note that most quarantine hotels give discounts for Thai Nationals)

No, only on Thai embassy facilitated repatriation flights and from some countries there’s even a SQ quota on such flights. From Sydney where I am, the quota is 150 SQ spots out of a capacity of 300

The ASQ is a process of quarantine at government-accredited hotels in Bangkok at the traveler’s own expense. For non-Thai nationality travelers, many hotels together with hospitals launched Alternative State Quarantine Packages for those returning from abroad. These hotels have been approved by Thailand’s Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Defense.

the only way to get free quarantine as a Thai national is with a repatriation flight. If you book your own flight then you’ll have to pay for ASQ.
