Hi! I have a question about visa exempt entries; I just read an old article(2014) saying that "By visa exempt entry, you only can stay a total 180 days in 365 days. The starting day counts from the day you enter this country."

Has anyone heard about this information? I tried to find more accurate information but I couldn't. Or any experience about this (something like have been asked at immigration)?

I am a Korean citizen, which means I can stay in Thailand up to 90days with visa exempt entry. I didn't have any problem or even a single question at the airport but in total date I stayed in Thailand would be more than 180 days this time. I wonder I don't have any problem to come back to this country.

Thanks and Have a good day!

TLDR : Answer Summary
A user inquires about the rules regarding visa exempt entries for Korean citizens in Thailand, specifically regarding the total duration of stay. They mention having read an outdated article stating a 180 days limit within 365 days. In response, community members clarify that there is no such rule. They note that a Korean citizen can stay up to 90 days on a visa exempt entry, and they recommend being prepared with proof of funds and accommodation when re-entering Thailand.

She is from Korea and this country has a bilateral agreement with Thailand. The Visa Exempt for her is 90 days, it does not make sense to apply for a 60 day tourist visa. You can fly out and come back to get another 90 days Visa Exempt Entry, but Immigration Officer can ask how do you provide to life that long inside Thailand. They can ask for proof of funds of 20.000 Thb in cash, accommodation and onward travel. Make sure you have these with you. I also recommend to have some proof of money coming in from abroad to avoid the suspicion of working inside Thailand. If you like to stay long term than the best option is to get a Visa for that.

There is NO rule that you can stay only 180 days out of 365 days inside Thailand.
