Do I need to visit the Thai Embassy in Ho Chi Minh after applying for a DTV visa online from Vietnam?

Hi everyone,

I’m applying for the DTV visa from Vietnam (I’m German).

I read on the Thai consulate website that e-Visa applicants no longer need to go to the embassy in person, but I’m still a bit confused.

📌 After submitting my application online, do I need to visit the Thai Embassy/Consulate in Ho Chi Minh at any point?

Or will everything be done online and I just wait for the confirmation email?

If anyone here has applied from Vietnam, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience. 🙏

TLDR : Answer Summary
The consensus among users who have applied for the DTV visa from Vietnam indicates that the application process, once initiated online, typically does not require visits to the Thai Embassy or Consulate in person unless called for an interview. Most applicants report that their experiences were completed online without needing to physically present documents, although some applicants mentioned possible requests for additional information during the process.

Don’t be afraid of all the scared people here, actually no one gets asked for an interview…. You don’t need to go to the embassy in person …

We applied for the DTV in Vietnam and it was all online. They may request for you to come but I have not heard of that happening. No matter what you turn in on the initial application they seem to always request more. I tried turning in extra to start with and they ended up still requesting for it.

Don’t try to leave the country during the process, they will likely cancel your application and you will lose 10,000 THB

You are unlikely to get called for an interview unless they want to carry out further checks etc. They do call anyone for an interview that they suspect is not in the country at the time of applying. Play by the rules, chill wait 5-10 days excl. Thai public holidays which could cause delays. HCMC is a great place to apply, the City is great, excellent prices for boutique hotels, restaurants and transportation by say Grab is so cheap GL

Everything will be done online. You don’t have to go to the embassy to submit the documents physically.

You can eventually be called for an interview; that's still random in there. However, you have to be and stay in Vietnam at the time you're sending your application.
