Is it worth traveling to Ho Chi Minh for a DTV visa application instead of applying in Hanoi?

Hello! I'll be flying to Hanoi next week and was wondering if it would be worth traveling down to Ho Chi Minh so that when I apply online I can have that embassy deal with my application instead of Hanoi.

The reason I ask is because I've heard very good things about the Ho Chi Minh embassy and it also has a higher rating on Google (4.1 stars), although this doesn't necessarily mean much.

This is for the "Workation" type of DTV.

Thank you in advance šŸ™šŸ»

TLDR : Answer Summary
The original poster is considering whether to travel from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City to apply for a DTV visa at the Ho Chi Minh embassy, due to positive reviews about the latter. However, the comments clarify that the DTV visa can be applied for online as an e-Visa, and that the location of application is determined by where the applicant is currently located. Feedback indicates that both embassies process applications efficiently.

It's online so there is only 1 place who goes it

You apply where you are located because it is e-Visa. If you are in Ho Chi Minh City or any area served by Ho Chi Minh, you apply at the Ho Chi Minh embassy.

Yes I'm aware of that. My question was would it be worth traveling down to Ho Chi Minh so that they will process my application instead of Hanoi. As I'm sure you know there are big differences between embassies and how nice they are

You wonā€™t go to the embassy anyway (all evisa these days) and my visa was approved by Hanoi embassy in less than 24 hours. Only positive feedback.

ok thanksā€¦isnā€™t it better to have the actual visa stamp in your passport vs having the letter ?

Iā€™ve read they can see it in the system but in case the immigration officer at the airport and says no or just is in a bad mood.

I guess depends. It will be annoying carrying that printout every time (I assume soft copy will work) but I donā€™t want to give up a full page for a sticker in my already full passport that has 3 years until expiry.

Better or not... you can not get the sticker when applying through e-visa (only used by the embassies/consulates where you must apply in person).

...and soon there will be no stickers in passports since they are all moving to e-visa.

You get the stamp when going through Immigration in to Thailand.

( Which can be an advantage, since the sticker needs a whole passport page the stamp only

Right, but you choose between the Hanoi embassy and the Ho Chi Minh one when you start the application online. And it's based upon your current location in Vietnam (current address). Which in my case will just be where my hotel is located. As far as I know the e-visa applications are still dealt with by individual embassies. There's not just 1 single embassy dealing with them. Congrats on your approval

thatā€™s great to hear as I was going to go to Hanoi as well next week to applyā€¦do you have to then go into the embassy to get the stamp after you apply and are approved online ?

No, have to print out the confirmation letter and I understand that this printout needs to be shown to the border officer when entering Thailand. I'm going back to TH on Monday so will know better by then šŸ™‚
