TLDR : Answer Summary
The TM30 form is essential for your 30-day visa extension in Thailand. If you're staying in a hotel, the hotel likely registered your TM30. If you reside in private accommodation and your landlord hasn't registered this form, it could lead to complications. It's advisable to secure a printout of the TM30 registration before visiting immigration, as not having it could result in a fine and delayed processing of your extension.

I live with my wife I have the same problem . No tm30 and her landlord won't file it for me
Jussy ********
You're applying for a 30-day visa extension tomorrow, but you're unsure about the TM30 form. Although it's not mentioned online, the TM30 form is indeed required for the extension process ¹.

The TM30 form is a notification of your stay in Thailand, and your landlord or accommodation provider should have registered you online with the Thai Immigration Department. You'll need to ask them for a printout of the registration confirmation, which is essentially your TM30 form ¹ ².

To avoid any issues, I recommend contacting your accommodation provider ASAP to obtain the TM30 form. If you're unable to get it in time, you can explain the situation to the immigration officer, and they might provide guidance or an alternative solution ¹.

Remember to bring all the required documents, including the TM30 form, to the immigration office tomorrow. Good luck with your extension application!

You should also consider reading a book or two before your travel I'd recommend a book Thailand Unveiled 2024-2025 by James Anderson on Amazon..it has all the info and recommendations you need..you should check it out. A very good companion

l can read and you went on the attack when Greg Alexander questioned why you waited to day 60 to get your 30 day extension. Now you're calling everyone idiots who questioned you.

i'm happy my friend. day 60 less than 10 minutes extension granted! enjoy your day
Jeff *********
Good for you, so it would appear you spent more time on this post arguing with people than it took to get the actual extension. Well done, give yourself a pat on the back.

no so this is wrong. Greg kept on saying "i was wrong" and that "i had misunderstood what i was told"

you need to read the comments. i merely said time and time again what i was told.

So for all the know it alls who tried to tell me i'm wrong. patong immigration 30 day extension excepted in 10 minutes!

@Carl *******
ok good for you. But you don't have to bribe your luck. Try to do it in Bangkok next time. Or maybe try Patong with another officer.

all officers in patong are amazing. They are extremely busy so they say come on last day! It's not about luck it's about doing as you're told!

Don't hate the player hate the game.
Alessandro **********
@Carl *******
no hate I just mean next time you might meet an officer that might ask you to show him a TM30. In case you had a TM30 already forget this message.
Carl ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Alessandro *********
i already got a TM30 After i posted the question. so basically going on day 60 is no problem if you come with all your information correct
David **********
Tm30 is the first thing you need
Alessandro **********
You need TM30 to exist in Thailand
Fąndn *******
Does the extension add on from the last day of the 60th Day, if I do it one or two week earlier ?

How early are we allowed to do the 30 days extension?
Cissi *********
@Fąndn ******
it adds on to the initial 60 days, you get 90 days in total.

When you can do the extension depends on where you are.

In most immigration offices you are allowed to extend 30 days before your 60 days are up...

The exceptions that I know of is that in Bangkok, Phuket and Chiang Mai you can do it 45 days before.

In Jomtien, Koh Samui and Koh Phangan only during the last 7 days.

If you are in a hotel they should do the TM30 for you but ask them for a print out

@John *********
i have spoke to my condo landlord and they have now sent me the form
Ian **********
If you are staying in a hotel, the hotel would have registered the TM30 online. If you are in private accommodation then you may be in trouble. You should not leave the extension until the last day. Most offices let you do it anytime in the last 30 days. Jomtien will only allow the last 7 days.
Carl ********

@Ian *********
i was told by immigration in phuket to come last day
Greg ***********
@Carl *******
you must have misunderstood them. In Bangkok, Chiang Mai and in Phuket, you are allowed to apply for the 30-days extension as soon as 45 days are left on your stamp
Lynnette *******
Waited till last day to get extension? Oooh. Risky? Did you count arrival day is day 1. So 59 days.
Carl ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Lynnette ******
immigration in phuket told me to come last day.. day 60! so how is it risky?
Lynnette *******
@Carl *******
because if you're extension fails because something's missing you got no time left. You'd have to leave.
Carl ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Lynnette ******
yes i know this. but i double checked with him and he said DAY 60. i said my last day day 60 and he said yes. so you're wrong again
Greg ***********
@Carl *******
yes, tomorrow is day number 60. Either you get that extension, or you will have to exit Thailand before midnight 😉 I see Phuket Immigration is willing to grant you an extension, you got a TM30 and all ducks in a row, so there won't be any problem. But for most people, mainly tourists, turning up on the last day of the 60-days stay permit, is a VERY bad approach. it puts them at a high risk getting turned away because someting is missing, thius being on overstay on the next day
Carl ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Greg **********
I agree that it seems odd the last day, but also i went and spoke to immigration and they
*****
0000% told me day 60 as have numerous people who live here. Thanks 👍
Greg ***********
@Carl *******
this is very unusual, because in Phuket you can apply for a touristic extension 45 days before your stay permit expires. I think you misunderstood them
Carl ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
How have i misunderstood? his words were come on last day? i said last day day 60 and he said yes! so maybe you're giving false information
Lynnette *******
@Carl *******
isn't 59 the last day?
Greg ***********
@Carl *******
no, absolutely NOT! You are the first person in my 15 years of visa advice, serving Thai Immigration as a volunteer, whom they have advised to visit them on the very last day of a stay permit. This is so weird, so absolutely out of routine
Lynnette *******
@Greg **********
if day of arrival ys day 1 isn't day 59 last day? Maybe I've got that wrong. I'm wondering if someone said come back before 60 day. I used Phuket to extend, on day 14.
Carl ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Lynnette ******
no you're wrong. my passport is stamped and tells me what day is last day! came in 1st dec so tomorrow is day 60
Lynnette *******
@Carl *******
not wrong, I was asking a question. As for the phuket immigration person saying come on day 60 he may have meant you "can" come on day 60. Who knows. But as you can see from the people who work there and other folk who extended, it is possible to do before day 60.
Greg ***********
@Lynnette ******
yes, you could be VERY RIGHT. They told him, "you can come for extension on day number 60" . . YES, we can, you can, I can, but NO, we shouldn't wait until the last day 😎😂😎😂😎😂😎 I say it again: It got lost in translation. Thai People are not good in punctuating 😂 and they are excellent in saying indifferent sentences
Lynnette *******
@Greg **********
true. But seems he's adamant it's done on last day. 🤷

@Lynnette ******
I'm just saying what immigration told me. There is no confusion because i kept saying so i have to come back last day. and he replied yes you come on day 60! Greg is just a no it all who knows nothing
Lynnette *******
@Carl *******
he's a volunteer at immigration. Perhaps you asked one IO. But if you'd double checked would have found out you could have extended earlier. As many people do in Phuket.
Carl ********

@Lynnette ******
what planet are you people on? double checked? i spoke to numerous people who live here and do visas all the time and told me day 60. I went to immigration and asked a member from when can i do my extension from and guess what they too said come day 60. so no i couldn't have checked anymore.
Lynnette *******
@Carl *******
what planet are we on"? Deary me, you're a bit tetchy. People are just trying to figure out why you were given different advice to others.
Carl ********
ORIGINAL POSTER
@Lynnette ******
but you're being rude. you're saying "i could have done more, or i misunderstood what i was told" which is rubbish. I was told by an immigration officer when to go. What more can i do? i even spoke to numerous high profile social media people who blog about thailand and they both said the same.
Lynnette *******
@Carl *******
how is it rude to be asking you a question or querying things when trying to figure out how others can go before day 60 and you were told by that's not possible. It's just a discussion. You said several times you asked one immigration person. But you've now explained you asked lots of them. Also a 'high profile social media person" (though I've no idea what that is ). I just hope this isn't a new policy.
Greg ***********
you should NEVER wait until the last day, to apply for an extension

not much more knowledge at all Andy. i was told what to do by immigration yet people on here say i was wrong. I did what i was told not what idiots on here tell me. i asked about the TM30 nothing more.

And guess what my extension was granted in 10 minutes because i followed what immigration told me 👍

@Carl *******
10min is wonderful. The key is to gather information and be prepared. But it's still risky nonetheless to apply on the last day. Others are right. Many things can happen like : no more queue numbers for today 🤣(happened to me at Lak.Si) or an officer wanting some additional document or rejecting one you have. It's not unheard of, rules are not set in stone here. Great it did work out smooth for you 👍🏼

well, it's up to you, as the saying is in Thailand. Just keep in mind, when you show up on the last day, and only one document or requirement is missing, on the next day you will be on overstay

it depends what kind of accomodation you choose. If you are staying in a hotel or resort, they registered you TM30 in the system when you checked in with your passport. Then you don't have to worry, as Immigration will see your TM30 on their computer. However if you live privately, and your landlord or host didn't log a TM30, you are going to have a problem tomorrow. WHY would you wait until the last day? If there was no TM30 logged, you will have to pay a fine of 2000 THB and will be told to visit Immigration with your host, his blue housebook and ID card, and lodge a late TM30, before Immigration is willing to process your application for a 30 days extension

@Carl *******
well you wrote you now have the TM30 form. HOW are we supposed to understand this? With "form", do you mean the "TM30 receipt"? You need at least a screenshot or the printed receipt that proves you have already been TM30 registered as living in the condo, in the online TM30 system. If you show up on Immigration and they see that you have not been TM30 registered online, they will fine you with 2000.- THB
Greg ***********
@Carl *******
this is VERY unusual, that's what I am telling you and many other will agree . . . . . maybe they saw you are correctly TM30 registered and didn't want to get bothered by you until the last day possible. You need : copy of detail page of your passport, copy of entry stamp, sometimes they require two passport pictures, copy of visa document, 1900.- THB sharp (they won't give you any 100 thb change for two 1000 baht bills) TM87 form you can fill out on Immigration.

I have everything filled in and ready for them. since i posted i now have a copy of the tm30 form sent to me! I've also before hand spoke to people who live in phuket and asked when to go and do it. they have also said last day! so no i have not misunderstood ANYONE greg
