No, but once you get here I would book a flight out ahead of time to be cheaper and round trip book it at the end of your stamp as opposed to doing it the week of

I had to specify my departure on TDAC under the DTV program. I ordered a bus ticket to Laos.

You generally don't. Most airlines are now familiar with the DTV and will let you board without an onward ticket. (It's way more of an airline 'thing' than it is an immigration thing.)

I won’t fly with Qatar again after they refused to let me fly without an outward ticket Just came back from Vietnam and wasn’t asked at all
