TLDR : Answer Summary
When you change your passport and need to update your DTV (Digital Tourist Visa) in Thailand, you should keep both your old and new passports. At immigration, you can show both passports along with your DTV. If you need to transfer the current stamp from your old passport to your new one, you can visit the immigration office. It's a straightforward process, often taking just a couple of minutes during your entry.
I came back thru HKT and immigration moved my visa over to my new passport when I went thru immigration. Took less than 2 minutes. I rid have my new and old passport at the time of entry with my DTV.
You just keep both passports and the DTV, and show everything when you enter immigration. If you need to transfer a current stamp to the new passport while in the country, you can just visit immigration.
