Do I need to have 500,000 THB for each family member when applying for a Thai visa from the UK?

Searched the group for a definitive answer but hit and miss.

Question:

Applying as a family of four. Have the 500k no problem, I’ll be working offshore and a good steady income of approx 100k GBP per year. So with that said, do I have to have another 500k available for each of the other 3 persons? Letter of the law says yes, I’ve seen others say on here no. Will be applying from within the UK.

Would love to hear people’s opinions on this.

Kind regards

TLDR : Answer Summary
The questioner seeks clarification on the financial requirements for applying for a Thailand visa as a family of four, specifically regarding the 500k requirement for each family member. Responses from the community present varying opinions: some assert that each applicant must show 500k, while others suggest alternative methods, like providing a letter of support from the main applicant. There are also discussions around the DTV visa and its applicability based on the nature of one's work, highlighting that working offshore may not meet the criteria for remote workers. Suggestions favoring 'soft power' options (e.g., Muay Thai) are posed as valid alternatives.

You will need 500k for each applicant at most Embassies. You should definitely go the soft power (Muay Thai) route as it is so straightforward. Just remember that the family will need to either leave Thailand every 6 months, or face having to show the 500k again if trying to extend in the Kingdom. Good luck with it 🙏

Also be careful that dependants can only extend in country when the main DTV holder also does in country extension.

Soft power might be an option but workcation matches the situation better, but indeed needs the possibility of remote working.

When an employer can confirm this in a letter it should be OK.

Nowhere is in the requirements you need a full time remote job.

Funny how selective DTV holders are.

You mention you work off-shore, advice comes quickly, you do not work on-line

Other topic was the question I rent out property in the UK, than the comments where you must apply for DTV.

At other forums the DTV is mentioned as the perfect visa for holiday makers or as family from retired people.

I would say, you can apply for the DTV but it is an expensive option for the family of four.

There must be other options.

it is as selective as the different DTV options and the circumstances of each person.

You're looking at the wrong visa. DTV is for remote workers while you work in presence but offshore. If you don't mind gambling 300pounds the. Go ahead otherwise I'd chose another way

that's why I mentioned I'd choose another way. I didn't say that's impossible either but it's a gamble

DioParco3474 . DTV soft power is the way to go. As mentioned, it's not just for remote workers. Your answer is wrong and misleading.

If I understood fully, I wouldn’t ask the question. As I understood it, and chatting generally with other DTV holders previously the DTV works well for those working outside the country as well as remote workers.

this is not true . Remoting working yes because you have to prove your working online and provide all the company documentation to prove it . Working off shore is not online remote work and won’t fall under dtv

“Freelancers employed by companies outside of Thailand”. Curious to know the meaning of the wording in this case. I was heading for that assumption, working outside of Thailand and returning when not at work.

All advice taken onboard. Just wondered how flexible that term/description was? 🧐.

Looks like I might be dusting off the knuckles after all and going for the Muay Thai route. 🥊

Working in a foreign land doesn't equal the qualifications of digital nomad, remote worker, etc which is basically online work. You will either have to satisfy the requirement of working on the internet remotely or go the soft power route.

Anonieme deelnemer 627 Only some embassies are not strict on the 500k, you can not say in general it is not needed.
