TLDR : Answer Summary
A UK family planning to apply for the DTV visa should apply individually for each member. The main visa applicant will apply first, followed by dependents who must reference the main holder's visa number. While there is no strict requirement for children to have funds in their bank accounts, it is advisable to demonstrate substantial financial support. Typically, the main applicant should show at least 1.5 million baht in their personal account, while spouses might need around 1 million baht, though rules may vary by embassy. It's suggested not to apply for the oldest child if they are close to turning 20, as they would no longer qualify as a dependent.
It depends where you apply from, we applied from uk and I needed the funds In my own named account as an adult dependant (wife) but I didn't need it for 3 months,
(We had plenty in a joint account but they wanted to see it in my own name)
My children did not.
My friend applied through NZ I believe and only the main visa holder needed the funds. So it depends on which embassy you apply through.
The main DTV Holder will apply first and then the dependents and spouse will apply citing the main holders Visa number. The main holder can write a sponsorship letter for the wife and the children but you'll need to demonstrate adequate funds to support this family. I suggest they show at least 1.5 million baht in their personal bank account, the more the better. There is an adult spouse and two teenage children lifestyles to fund.
If applying in the UK the money doesn't necessarily need to season.
Everyone applies individually and pays 10,000 baht each
You apply individually. Most embassies don’t require the children to have money in their account, but some sort of support letter from the parent with the bank account. For the spouse, some embassies require a total of 1 million while others don’t. Also, once your oldest child turns 20, I don’t believe they can apply as your dependent. Since you plan to go in April, you would apply in Feb/March. Hopefully the child is still 19. However, it still could be an issue, being so close to 20
DTV_BegPecker yes he’s 20 in July we have a passive income of £3000 per month plus we have a online business that turns min £1000 pw showing that income coming in regularly dose that also count or is that irrelevant you just need 25k ish in the bank ??
