Do I need to file a TM30 every time I travel out of Thailand just for a short holiday abroad with a Non-Immigrant O Marriage visa? My annual visa has been renewed in the past 4 years. (Nonthaburi Branch)
Answer summary
Yes, if you hold a Non-Immigrant O Marriage visa, you need to file a TM30 registration every time you re-enter Thailand after traveling abroad. This requirement applies regardless of the duration of your absence, including short trips. However, local immigration offices may have specific rules that can vary, so it’s recommended to check with your local Thai immigration office for their exact requirements. Additionally, if you travel domestically within Thailand and stay at a hotel, a TM30 filing may also be necessary upon returning to your primary residence.

It takes a couple of minutes to do a new online TM30 after setting up the account and adding the address, just get in the habit of doing one

be careful what identification You used to check into hotels in Thailand. if you use a driver's license then your residence is not reestablished in a new location each time you check into a hotel. if you use your passport, then your residence is changed with each hotel you check in

Even if you travel anywhere in Thailand and stay at a hotel they will file a TM30 meaning when you get back to your home, you will need to update again. I do it on my phone every time. Takes a minute or two.

Yes you do. And when you travel within Thailand and stop in a hotel and they complete a TM30 registration at the hotel when you return home you have to update it back to your home.

not all Thai Immigration offices require that. ASK yours.

No it isn't, but the different ways individual offices apply the rulings make it useless to read the actual rulings. So, GO ASK AT YOUR OFFICE

Yes you do. And when you travel within Thailand and stop in a hotel and they complete a TM30 registration at the hotel when you return home you should also update it back to your home. I found that out when I went to immigration to get an exit permit

Not a clear yes or no binary.. Chiang Mai says no, as long as you remain on the same permission of stay (extension with re-entry permit).

They are less clear, giving both yes and no answers unfortunately, on a different entry on a long multi entry visa.

what they let you get away with and what the actual regulations are unfortunately are two different things. You discover this sometimes at your peril

The rule is every time you leave your home for 24h it needs to be done, and that clearly is not how it is enforced.. For decades the rule was totally ignored country wide, it was only after the erawan shrine bombing it was reintroduced.

The reality is that is is down to your local office as to how the TM30 is actually enforced.
Goodd *******

At Nonthaburi, yes you need to file again after a trip overseas.

ask your local Thai Immigration office. There are different rules for filing the TM30 in the 80+ offices nationwide.

Yes, every time you re-enter Thailand you have to file for a new TM30.

If you stay in your own or family house you can easily do yourself. Otherwise landlord or hotel need to do this.

Depending on immigration, different locations different rules, you may even have to file a new TM30 every time you return from travel domestivally. But you have to check with your local immigration what their rules are.

not true, my office Jomtien do NOT require a refiled TM30 when returning to your primary residence regardless if returning from abroad. It depends on the policy of the individual immigration office.

Jomtien refused me residency certificate as I had been out of the country so my latest passport stamp was after the last TM30, new TM30 was needed

and needing a new TM30 for an Immigration service has nothing to do with the subject of requiring a refiling of a TM30 after a temporary absence away from your primary residence.

not my experience nor the experience of any of my friends. Nor would it make any sense for one of the busiest offices to require a refiling if the requirement to refile was removed back in 2020. I can only speak to my personal experience.

ProficientTurtle7614 as one of the busiest offices Jomtien embraces the June 2020 Police Regulation that removed the TM30 refiling requirement for those on long term visas with re entry permits or with multiple entry visas. This is my experience and why I am able to do my 90 online reporting despite temporary absences from my primary address.

is think it goes back to each immigration officer. I have been told numerous times at Jomtien immigration I need a new TM30 every time I arrive in Thailand. I travel almost monthly in and out of thailand and I just do the TM30 online when in the taxi to pattaya. I forgot to do one a few months back and when I went to get a residence certificate, they said I needed to do a new TM30 as I left the country, so I did it online right in front of the immigration officer and then showed him and he was ok with it..

They require a new TM30 filing only with a new entry stamp when you enter using a re-entry stamp no filing is necessary when returning to your primary address.

nothing to do with the question. A re-entry does not keep you from being required to file another TM30.

there is nothing such as an annual visa. You are living in Thailand on a 1-year extended stay permit. The stay permit is not a visa

he said he has a "Non Imm O Marriage Visa" which he allegedly has "renewed" since 4 years. The mistake in the wording is: he has NEVER "renewed any visa", he has only been issued a "1-year extension of the stay permit based on marriage to a Thai wife" by Immigration, every year, since 4 years. He is NOT on any "annual visa". He is on a "1-year stay permit". I am referring to his wrong wording, not to the general list of visa types. . . . The 1-year Non-Imm-O/A Visa is not a "marriage visa", the O/A visa is a "Longstay Visa" that has a validity of 1 year. He but is NOT on any "annual visa", there is nothing such based on marriage

The answer to your question is Thai Immigration office specific.

ASK your local Thai Immigration office for their requirements for filing a new TM30 upon your return to Thailand.

OP
Thank you. I think I have to ask my local immigration office.

I know it’s easy to file TM30 online but the problem is only when I report 90 day online it would get rejected then I had to go in person again. This has happened every time because I filed TM30 after coming back from travelling abroad. I have a house here and come back to the same address every time.

The only reason I ask this question just in case if filling TM30 is not mandatory for a short trip abroad so I can avoid the loop of triggering the 90 day report online being rejected. I guess I have no choice but to be in the cycle.

That question was recently asked and
@Tod ********
replied...

"okay, let's get this hashed out.

As far as the 90 day online system, it cross checks passport and address information with the TM30 system.

SOME offices require you file a new TM30 if you stay somewhere else other than your primary residence (where you have your TM30 filed) during inside thailand travel

SOME offices only require you to file a new TM30 if you return from international travel

AND

SOME offices only require you to file the TM30 once and whether you travel domestically (staying at a place that files a Tm30 on you) or return from international travel, as long as you go back to the address where your TM30 was filed, they're okay with it

It's office specific, so what we're not going to do is list how each and every one of the 80+ offices in the country handles TM30 requirements <- that's for you people to suss out with your particular immigration office..

As far as the O/P's predicament it was because they'd stayed at a hotel that filed a TM30 on them and then didn't update/re-file a TM30 when they went back home <- meaning their office requires a TM30 update for domestic travel (if you stay where a TM30 is filed inside thailand)
