TLDR : Answer Summary
The conversation addresses the concern of whether travelers are asked to show proof of 500,000 THB upon arrival in Thailand, specifically in relation to the DTV (Digital Nomad) visa. Many participants express skepticism about such checks occurring routinely once the visa has been granted, suggesting that the requirement applies only during the application process and not as an ongoing condition. Individual experiences vary, with some citing years of entry without being asked for such documentation, while others acknowledge that although they can inquire about finances, there is no ongoing obligation to maintain the specified amount after obtaining the visa.

Never been asked to show any amount of funds for over 30 years when entering Thailand on visa exemption (tourist), Non-B, and Non-O).

It is not a requirement unless you apply for a 6 month extension in country

No reports so far, but they can ask what they like. Dont be surprised if it starts happening soon as the new government react to Taksins visas.

Its meant to be there for emergencies.

Unlikely to be asked but just leave until you get through immigration and then transfer wherever you want

This is getting ridiculous, there is no requirement to maintain funds with DTV , other visas like retirement visa it is clearly stated how much and how long you have to maintain funds.

yes they can ask to see your finances , but there's no chance in hell they would be insisting you maintain 500k for the duration of your visa , it really is bonkers that people think that

immigration asked for proof of financial documents I said here, I didnโ€™t say he was denied to entry. He is in Thailand now anyway. I just answered from the experience. Not everyone was asked but it happened.

Absolute rubbish, it doesn't happen because it's not an ongoing requirement past the application stage of the visa. The IO staff are well trained on what they ask for, and you agents are full of crap

When it is on all the official information it should be easy for you to show just one piece of that information that distinguishes between "ongoing" and other types of requirement, but up to now you were unable to do so, you only spout your own theories and when somebody tells some experience that does not match your holy theory, you put it away as "agents are full of crap", you are just pathetic.

with any visa that requires you to maintain funds , they clearly state that in black and white. It's never vague.

Again for possibly the 50th time just for you, The DTV is issued under the Immigration Act B.E. 2522. The 500,000 THB requirement appears in MFA application guidance as proof of financial capacity at application. Ongoing obligations are governed by Section 37 of the Act. There is no published Ministerial Regulation stating that the 500,000 THB must be continuously maintained after issuance. Entry screening under Section 12 is a separate matter.

You now just show the visa requirement will be checked at approval time, that does not mean the requirement will be void after that moment.

look, I'm not a gambler but how about a friendly wager? You prove me wrong, not just saying so, with references/official sources/heck I'll even take a video from an immigration official, and I'll donate 10k baht to the Thai charity of your choice? I'll give you a week. At the end of the week if you can't prove me wrong, therefore proving I've been correct all along (I've provided my official sources dozens of times for you now), YOU can put up 5k baht to the Thai charity of my choice? You can get help from the other two
@Robert ******
and @John Stanners, split the 5k idc ๐Ÿค—

to clarify, the wager is My point - "Visa application conditions are NOT ongoing requirements after the visa is issued, unless expressly stated" vs Your point - "Visa application conditions ARE ongoing conditions regardless if they're stated in official sources as such or not"

I guess you want my opinion as you use my name.

Keep going on mixing all to a giant coctail to keep a discussion going.

Why not keep to one subject without moving to all kind of other things.

What is the job description of an Immigration Offier and is the officer allowed to check the reasons an visa is issued before the officer stamps a passport with a certain period of time to be in Thailand. Can an Immigration Officer file the case to a court to get a visa void?

OR are you willing to discuss the terms and conditions of a visa, which is as you said, correct. You apply for a visa meeting the requirements and the visa stays valid until the day mentioned on the visa, OR getting void by court order OR getting cancelled by the visa holder.

What is next? the funds in a bank for an Extension of Stay?

Anonieme deelnemer 314 you keep replying funny, but never show where the requirements for funding are described different, and where is stated that DTV requirements are only for a moment.

I know why you keep failing, just because it is not true what you claim.
