Do Foreigners on a One-Year Non-O Visa Need to Leave Thailand for 24 Hours for Renewal?

I hear that foreigners staying in Thailand on a one year Non-O (multiple entry visa) now need to leave and stay outside of the country for at least 24hours on the renewal trip. Does anyone have any useful input on this issue?

I have to point out that this is NOT, repeat NOT a 'one year marriage visa'. It has a one year duration but I can only stay for 90 days at a time. These are the facts, no mistaken BS.

IF you are going to use one of the Cambodian border crossings to bounce out and back in at to get a new entry on a multi-entry visa you need to use Ban Laem, or Ban Pakard. NOT Poi Pet.

they MIGHT ask you for extra cash, so they close an eye on the 24-hour stay in Cambodia "requirement" which is a common scam between the agents and the officers on both sides of the border. Not at all Cambodian borders but at some and not always. Chong Chom or Chong Sa Ngam should be fine

You can not renew a VISA. If you need a new visa it is at almost every Thai consulate, apply in the morning and pick up your passport the next working day.

Ohh it is to activate a new 90 day Admitted to stay period by using the visa on a new entry. Sounds almost the same as renew your visa. Sometimes it makes sense if you try every option in the book to understand what people did hear.

they are talking about bouncing out and back to get a new entry on a valid multi-entry visa or a 30 day visa exempt entry

okay you got your wires crossed.

There is no amount of time you have to stay outside of thailand, BUT some border crossings that require you spend a day in their country before you come back.

PRO-TIP; NEVER EVER border bounce at the Aranyaprathet - Poi Pet border with Cambodia.
